True. It was 1983, but in 1984 they ended unranked and 1985 they were only #8. In 1986 they ended #2 and won the NC the next year. From 1986 - 1992 they were not ranked less then 3 and won two NCs. Its up to your own opinion if you want to include 1983-1985 in the dynasty.

This is one of the big problems in college football. None of the conferences are equal and each one has different scheduling practices.
It's just easier to win in the other conferences. PAC 12 has nothing unless Oregon overachieves, B10 is down. Ohio State will be good and Michigan will underachieve. Oklahoma should easily win the Big 12. Clemson is the only team worth a shit in the ACC. SEC has Alabama, Georgia, LSU and Florida in preseason top 10 with Auburn, aTm and maybe Moo U finishing in the top 25.
