Shouldn't a national team be comprised of citizens of that country. You can't compete in the Olymics without being a citizen of that country. Some Americans with dual citizenship have competed for their second country when they didn't make the USA team. Joey Atiyah of Baton Rouge won a silver medal in wrestling for Syria after he didn't make the American team.
France has 49 players in the World Cup. Only 20 something players are actually on the France national team. You can play for any team your parents or grandparents are from or that you have some affiliation with. All those Belgians that play for Man U or Tottenham just play in the English Premier league. Don’t know if they still do this in English premiere but the last place team in the each division gets booted to the minor league and the first place teams in the minors take their spots. Imagine the Saints getting booted to the minors and replaced by the Birmingham Sister Fuckers.
Yep. My Spurs have 3 starters for Belgium. City can only account for two but De Bruyne is the heart of that team.
The Spurs have always had a lot of foreign players. Tony Parker from France. Manu Ginobli from Argentina. Tiago Splitter from Brazil. Even Tim Duncan was born in the Virgin Islands. But none of them are eligible to play for the USA in the Olympics.
