NO ONE had O at the top of any list. No one. Myself and others are trying to look at things objectively. 100% there is some bad with O, but there IS good. You just have to be open to it.
I don't think anybody hates O, even Tap. I think it is the idea that when you fire a coach because he cannot be competitive to win championships and replace him with a significantly lesser resume, you get the idea that winning championships is not in the minds of those who made the selection. I was all for O to sit in the role for a year so that a formidable search for a high caliber coach would occur. Then they put a 12 trillion dollar buyout tag on him and everyone is left with the belief that championships are going to become a distant memory. So O is really only the image of those that hired him and they placed all their eggs in his basket. For better or worse, we are stuck with him. The only thing left is to pray that O exceeds his own expectations.
Only problem with that is that it would destroy recruiting. Who wants to sign with a team they wouldn't know who is coaching the next year. Everybody bitches anout the $12 million buyout but that goes down from year to year. Oeaux wasn't going to be fired after one year and he won't be fired after this one unless things really go to hell.
That is correct, but in the long run, it would have been smarter. I am hopeful. I think O can turn it around if he does what Miles failed to do. Let his coaches coach. TBH, We shouldn't have fired Miles the way we did. Joe fucked this up 10 ways before he rolled out of the bed that morning.
All you non O guys may be right but to me your error is judging him having only been there for such a short time. A new coach is judged by how he does with mostly his recruits. Technically this upcoming 2019 class is his first real class. Right now that class is looking pretty good. It's simply wrong to pre judge O right now. We haven't even seen what E can do as a full time OC.
No, it is 100% fine to judge him based on the field results. Dude has to take the hits of Troy/MSU/ND, while ALSO taking credit for the recruiting/Auburn and keeping the team together after getting stomped by Troy.
Damn it happened in GA but surely many people knew in today's world. Should have been kicked off. I don't know the answer to this but how many felons did Les recruit. He had an outstanding record with recruits it seems. Taint could tell me. Pinged his cell phone and put him at the scene and someone has identified him for the icing on the cake. He gone. Never seen him dislike a coach this much? This board has only been around for Les and nick. How long have you known him. The qb problems were specifically Les miles. Let's not try to mince that issue. The florida teams were basically the only major teams throwing the pill around in the 90's and manning. The sec adopted the forward pass after Spurrier.
I've known Tap for about 45 years. He & his wife introduced me to my wife. Somedays I'm not too happy about that! He & I been going to LSU games since about. '72 or '73. Agree, Spurrier did bring a ton of passing to the SEC. Although Hodson threw for 9,000 yards & 69 tds before Spurrier. I wouldn't blame everything on Miles. Here are the 10 best passing seasons at LSU. 1 Rohan Davey 3,347 2001 2 JaMarcus Russell 3,129 2006 3 Zach Mettenberger 3,082 2013 4 Matt Mauck 2,825 2003 5 Tommy Hodson 2,655 1989 6 Zach Mettenberger 2,609 2012 7 Jeff Wickersham 2,542 1983 8 Danny Etling 2,463[3] 2017 9 JaMarcus Russell 2,443 2005 10 Matt Flynn 2,407 2007 click passing https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/LSU_Tigers_football_statistical_leaders#Passing
What a sad state of affairs that list is. USC's all time top 10, their #10 is 3,322..... However their years kind of line up with ours with regards to more of a new age game.
