Yeah, I just read same, that we have been in contact with the family for 2+years. Just hadn't offered until now. Guy holds offers from high academic schools, which means he is bright, and is described as being an accurate passer. These are not qualities I have seen in our QBs the past few years. Here is Scott's tweet: Lindsey Scott, Jr. @_lj18_ Blessed to receive an offer from Louisiana State University
I have a lot of respect for what Southern, Grambling and the other HBCUs used to be. But things have changed. You are never going to see another Doug Williams, Mel Blunt, Steve McNair, Walter Payton or Jerry Rice sign with any of those schools any more. If a Walter Payton gets offers from LSU, Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Jackson State its a foregone conclusion that J State has no shot.
Bengal B is absolutely correct. There aren't any players that slip under the radar anymore. The major programs and the fans, like the ones that visit this site, know about them from 8th grade on up. The ability to put your highlights on the internet also ensures you won't be overlooked. The major colleges have also widened the gap in terms of facilities, amenities, etc., for football players. Another angle of course is the one that doesn't officially exist. The boosters of major universities can certainly offer recruits much more than other universities if they choose to accept the "incentives". I agree with Bengal B, those days are gone.
Probably not, but you could say that about 99.9% of the QBs LSU offers. It yet another sign of how disfunctional this staff is when it comes to QBs and offense. It's the same broken record, over and over and over.
I don't think recruits see it that way. I just think Scott doesn't think he fits our system and isn't coming.
You don't? Every time an LSU QB recruit takes a visit somewhere else you can bet they get reminded of it repeatedly. Any high school coach worth squat would feel obligated to point that out to his player being recruited. Surely the relatives of the recruit point that out repeatedly. If a recruit watches an LSU football game, reads any LSU football news or watches any show on college football he hears and sees it. Every QB recruit on the planet knows how disfunctional LSUs offense and QB development is and of course it plays a part in their decision making if they are being recruited by LSU. It would be insane to think otherwise.
No, they don't. Brandon Harris could have gone anywhere in the coutnry. He came to LSU. Anthony Jennings was an elite 11. He came to LSU. We put all of our eggs in Franks's basket and, unfortunately, he flipped to Florida. You won't get on many QBs lists two weeks before signing day so we probably won't sign a QB this year. But one bad year after 3 solid years of qb recruiting doesn't mean we can't recruit qb's.
