We would have had to question the kid's intelligence had he chosen LSU over Ohio State, don't you think?
Unfortunately yes. Miles and Cameron are going to have to shoot at easier targets to hit. They need to focus their efforts on QB's like Russo and MacVitte and quit chasing long shots. Get a couple QBs with decent talent and a brain. Do a better job of development and put them in a functional offense. Once they prove they can develop a QB and a coherent offense they will have a better shot at landing QBs like Haskins. At this point a legitimate big time QB would have to be a complete idiot to chose LSU over Ohio State or almost any other D-1 school.
It's really embarrassing, and telling, to have the elite program we have, with as many or more players than any other college making it to the next level, as well as the highest paid OC in college football and yet not be a draw for any 4* or 5* quarterbacks coming out...as well as some 3*'s.
I thought so at first too but who has urban meyer developed into a successful NFL QB in the last 10 years? Not a soul.
But he has developed successful college QBs. No comparison when it comes to QBs, as much as I hate Meyer, it's true. He won a national championship with his third string QB. Add to that the fact that he recuits QBs that actually fit his system or adjusts his system to their strenghths.
No question, but recruits don't care about that. The real prize is in the NFL. That's what they all want and rightly so.
So why is Miles not able to recruit a QB this year? Also don't believe for a second that playing in an offense that showcases a QBs talent doesn't play a big part.
