I'm confused. Does any of that make him any less a gump? Forgive my disdain, but I am less than thrilled with our pitching staff and their development from last year. Questionable coaching decisions with the pen and it is hard to simply look at the talent themselves. Everyone that was killing it last season is struggling now. Not all his fault, but he is far from innocent in his efforts. Having that gump blood only adds to the obvious...
Fraid so. I was encouraged by the young hitters early in the season and I thought the pitching would come around but this team will struggle just to get into a regional
leadoff single. fielders indifference to 2b. k for 1 out then great snag in out of play territory for ther 2nd out by trey dawson. double scores run, tying run at plate. no one warming up still.
chopper up middle no one can make a play. 2 on 2 out. winning run at bat. tying run on. no one in pen.
home cooking bails us out. 2-0 count runners on 2/3. throws a strike for 2-1 count. ball outside and almost in dirt ump calls strike 2 to a .175 batter. next one is down the middle and hes caught looking. lsu salvages final game 7-5. we got lucky there.
I'm curious. Do you look at Phelon Jones as a Tiger, or as a Bama guy? Yes, it does. His blood doesn't run Crimson, it runs Green (and yes, pun intended there.) I get this. Just because a player does well on the field doesn't mean his talents translate to coaching positions. I've seen, and said, the same thing for a few years with the hitting coach at Bama, Andy Phillips.
So I did some review, and leaving out our terrible ability to get runners home ATM, a few notes on the pitching this weekend; which seems awful. Lange went 6 innings with giving up no runs and only 3 hits, then, got rocked. Poche went 5 giving up 1 run on 4 hits, though he hit a few batters in that span. I think we can make something of this team if CPM uses the bullpen a bit more frequently. Though, they too will have to grow a pair and step up/
