I'm not talking about art class where you can start over every day. Dude had a regular room at the Radisson. He cheated on his wife repeatedly....it wasn't a secret. Men like that recruit other men who won't talk about it. So when he left LA, he was a liar and a cheat. He's now divorced for the same reasons. What moral re-direction or spiritual awakening has occurred?
Not to pick on USC too much, but your AD just got called out for improprieties with the church funds. That smacks of being a thief. Those are honesty issues. There are reasons we have the old adage, "If they'll lie, they'll steal." Those are honesty issues. You're saying that about Kiffin because that type of integrity apparently matters to you. I mean, with Pat Haden and Kiffin we aren't talking about what's legal just what's ethical, right?
Our AD is Lynn Swann. As far as Haden, what he did was completely legal and under Board approval, and yet IMO, entirely the wrong thing to do. I've been beating the Pat needs to leave drum for awhile now.
It's worth a chuckle. When somebody points a finger at you, they also have 3 pointing right back at themselves.
Given the shallow well he was gulping out of, I can see your point. There are probably some Bama fans who don't like all the personal decisions Kiffin makes in his life. But it hasn't gotten the public reaction nor contempt directed at Haden and his family. I will add that Kiffin is in the 3rd and final year of his contract, but we like him and hope he sticks around. As you know, with the 3.4 million dollars the Trojans have sent him annually for not coaching, he's been a bargain for us.
Because a lot of people had been supportive of Haden despite the crappy way he handled Ed O, the clumsy firing of Kiffin on the tarmac, the lack of a true search and vetting before hiring Sardrunkian, the lack of results on the field, boycotting Indiana because he has a gay son, the abomination of a plan regarding the Coliseum renovation....I could go on. This last issue felt like an "eff u" to alums and fans. He was overpaid, he under-performed, and then legally accepted a shitload of money he didn't need to. He's a Rhodes Scholar, aTrojan, and successful investor....expectations for him were higher than for Kiffin and rightly so. You'll like him until he sucks or leaves. One or the other will happen. As soon as you have to take over the child support payments, you may end up not liking him quite as much. But that's what Bama does, n'est-ce-pas? Churn and burn.
With two SEC championships and one Natty, it may be too late to watch him be bad at his job. He's actually evolving with his spread concepts and the hurry up. He says he's growing because he's concentrating solely on his offensive responsibility now. Truth is, coach Saban calls that kind of stuff rehab, we just ain't telling Kiffin.
I hadn't watched him on the sidelines enough to say if it's too much but I like this in a coach. I've seen Kiffen give a fist pump and raise hands on a touchdown. Players feed off of that. Hell, fans too. I especially love it with DC's. I miss that in Muschamp. That's funny. Hey Tusk, any other Bama fans you know might want to post here? This forum is much more visitor friendly than it used to be. It could sure use a couple more Bama posters like you and Terry.
