At the store yesterday I found two had hit the news stands. Sporting News and Lindy's. On the preseason rankings: Both had Ohio St #1, and both had TCU #2, from there, things took off. Lindy's: #3 Bama #4 Oregon #5 Baylor #6 Mich St #7 ND #8 Barn #9 Clem #10 UGA #11 USC #12 Fla St #13 LSU #14 Zona St #15 Ga Tech #16 Wisconsin #17 Tenn #18 Ok St #19 Zona #20 UCLA #21 Ok #22 Boise St #23 A&m #24 Virgina Tech #25 Missouri Other SEC Teams 27 Ark, 28 Ole Miss, 31 Moo U, 38 Fla, 49 USCE, 59 Ky, 76 Vandy. Sporting News: #3 Barn #4 Oregon #5 bama #6 USCW #7 Baylor #8 Mich St #9 Fla St #10 ND #11 Clem #12 Ga Tech #13 UCLA #14 LSU #15 Ark #16 Ole Miss #17 Zona #18 UGA #19 Zona St #20 Ok #21 Boise St #22 Tenn #23 Missouri #24 Stanford #25 MooU Both have some good info. Both have LSU finishing 3rd in the West.
Considering the dark mood of this forum, 10 wins this year would be quite the accomplishment for this team/head coach.
10 wins is an accomplishment for any team in any season. Especially so in the most competitive division of the most competitive conference in America.
Ten wins means beating four shitty non conference teams, going 5-3 in the SEC, then winning a second tier bowl game... Not exactly ideal.
Yeah, we should win the national championship every single year or Les is Elmer Fudd. Life in fantasyland . . .
I think a lot of fans look at Saban's record with Bama and think he did that well at LSU. That's really the only explanation I can come up with for the derogatory comments. Miles has been the most successful coach in our history so I don't get it. Now if he has a couple more 8-5 seasons then go ahead and call for a coaching change but if he wins 10 (especially in the regular season) then STFU.
do these magazines (which i never buy) typically define what their rankings mean? do they rank how good the teams are now? predict how the rankings will be and the end of the year (so account for schedule difficulty)? predict how good the teams will be at the end of the year?
Both these have LSU finishing behind bama and barn in the west. They like Ohio St and TCU, both return very good players, on both sides of the ball. This is TCU year to shine.
