these great high school players ultimate goal, i'd presume, is to get to the pros and make it big. with that in mind, how many bama players have made it big in the pros since saban's been coach? like none that i can think of. most, it seems, have problems once they've gotten there. my thinking is maybe they're burned out under saban and wilt once they're on their own with freedom and money. just my opinion...but look at the beast that went to the raiders and retired after 1 or 2 seasons. look at lacy now...looks like he's like 260 lbs. andre smith, and several others, are having a hard time meeting fitness minimums. it just goes on and on. they may win nc, but are they really more ready for the pros than others coming from the top programs? i think not.
LF will do well with Cam, he gets the ball to the RB is so many ways. Look at this stat. NFL TD leaders: Jerry Rice-208 Emmitt Smith-175 LaDainian Tomlinson-162 (Yep, third on the list). *Most consecutive seasons, 1500 or more yards from scrimmage: 8, LaDainian Tomlinson. *Combined yardage, most consecutive attempts with zero fumbles: 719 (623 rushes, 96 receptions), LaDainian Tomlinson, Oct, 22, 2006-Sep 28, 2008. *Most games, 200 yards gained, season: 5, LaDainian Tomlinson 2003. *Most touchdowns, season: 31, LaDainian Tomlinson, 2006. *Highest average touchdowns per game, season: 1.9375, LaDainian Tomlinson, 2006. *Most points scored, season: 186, LaDainian Tomlinson, 2006. This one also tells me something: In the entire history of the NFL only a handful of running backs have had more than 2,000 yards from scrimmage in an entire season, Cam coached two of them (Ray Rice and LaDainian Tomlinson). You want to play RB in the NFL, come to LSU and let Cam help you get there........
My husband was next to Mike Zimmer from Cincy last week on a flight. They talked a good bit and discussed the NFL talent in the SEC. He said they are most impressed with guys from LSU and UGA. The Bama guys, Zimmer said, are very beaten up when they get to the NFL.
i had to look it up. it was rolando mcclain. first he was waived by oakland after a couple of lackluster seasons, then he signed with the ravens and, soon after, retired.
