Regarding the Miami situation: Mike McHugh ?@mvmchugh 2m According to an ESPN Miami radio host, Al Golden is not returning calls from current Miami players, Board of Trustee members, or the media Hopefully this plays a part in getting Valentine here. From that article I just posted: "Even if Golden does wind up staying with Miami, the rumors have been very unsettling with Valentine and his family."
I would go so far as to say if we could only get Valentine or Willis, I would take Valentine all day. LSU only has 1 wide body, and that is Maquedius Bain. That's simply not enough, especially in the SEC.
VALENTINE DECOMMIT LOOMING?: Champagnat (Fla.) defensive tackle Travonte Valentine, a Miami commitment, told NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune yesterday that the rumors of Al Golden possibly leaving the Hurricanes to take the head coaching position at Penn State didn’t sit well with him and now it appears that could be what finally pushes the 6-3, 320-pounder over the edge in decommitting from Miami. “With all the talk about Al Golden going to Penn State, that kind of hurt the situation,” Valentine said. “Right now, LSU is coming on very strong.” Even if Golden does wind up staying with Miami, the rumors have been very unsettling with Valentine and his family. LSU coaches have made no secret about how much they want Valentine and visited him in December on their trip through the Sunshine State. Valentine has told coaches since November that he does see himself in Baton Rouge when all is said and done but wanted to wait until his official visits before making any announcements. Valentine said he will take his visit to LSU on Jan. 17 while heading to Kentucky and Miami on the following weekends. http://www.nola.com/recruiting/index.ssf/2014/01/us_army_all-american_whispers.html#incart_river
I know Willis is super talented and will be a player for somebody, but he seems a little light for what we want our DTs to do. I think florida told him he could go there and be a DE which is a better fit.
