I wish I could. I had concerns when I saw it earlier today. I believe it was likely from the visit/in-home USC coaches made with Adoree and his family in Illnois right after the dead period.
I have to say I'm amazed these days at these kids who make announcements on national television without telling the coaches that have recruited them for years or their parents first. I'm thinking of writing a recruiting manifesto in a new thread about what I think about all of this but this point alone is crazy. Would never have happened with my parents or my kids.
I'm okay if they don't want to tell the coaches first although I respect those who do. The parents not knowing or being on board is just head scratching. Yesterday does highlight the fissure that some players have regarding their family units. Adoree moved out here and in with his aunt, away from his parents. His aunt was never around and so he ended up moving in for a time with a coach and his family. His parents say they have only had a handful of conversations with Adoree's HS coaches since he moved out here. Whaaaa? If that's my kid, I'm either moving with him or I'm talking to the coaches every single week or day if necessary. Maybe dad had some regrets yesterday about not having been involved or consulted. I don't know. Big difference between this situation and the dozens of kids who committed surrounded by parents, siblings, cousins, etc.
Apparently LSU came just as close to getting Adoree as they were with Carter (and probably even closer considering it wasn't a coach that swayed his decision but the overall situation). LSU nearly had the best closing on NSD in recruiting history.
If you are believe the 247 class calculator, adding Carter and Jackson still would not have caught LSU up to Bama.
Someone asked in another thread about would we have been #1 in a certain situation. I commented that had LSU gotten Tony Brown, we would have still been a high 4 star player away from being #1. So what you are saying is about what I calculated.
