Was offered at Junior Day this weekend and could play a number of positions. However, I see him at the SS position. He can really lay the wood. Out of Jewel Sumner in Kentwood 6'3 175 4.5
#79 on Dandy Don's list...? So far we have commits from #44, #61, and now number 79. I know rankings are inaccurate, but somethings seriously out of whack with either Don's rankings or our coaching staff evaluations. I trust our staff.
Dandy is a great guy but not a scout by any means. I bet he has only seen a handful of these guys play. Jewel Sumner is a school that rarely has talent come out of and pretty far off the map. I think the other main SS possiblity in-state is Jay Washington. He may be slightly better right now IMO. But Cutrer has far more upside. Kid could play CB as well and can jump out of the gym.
Don will start his list from coaches and fans, he will adjust as the year goes on. Its a start, same with the paid scouts, they need a starting point. Less than a year till the next signing day......
I've only followed recruiting for the last 5 years, but Don has always had more accurate ratings. The Louisiana kids we've signed have always been in his top 20. I can't ever remember us targeting kids in "the best of the rest"...or any other SEC teams for that matter. 44, 61 and 79 is pretty far out of the usual realm for ranking errors. Something's got to be wrong. That's why I was wondering if Don is involved in his rankings at all this year.
That is because he adjust them often. If someone commits to LSU or another top school or gets offered by one he will shoot them way up.
DD already bumped him up to #32 earlier today, not too long after the news came out that he committed

at this point I dont even care about player rankings. After seeing this staff develop guys over the last few years, I get excited when they offer a kid no one has heard of. Best part is that this kids dream is to be a Tiger. I love that he doesnt even want to see other schools.
