he was selected to the 2013 Elite 11 after being named top quarterback at the tryout (MVP of the Alanta Elite 11 QB camp) "Eighty-six quarterbacks were here [in Atlanta] from 19 states and 21 with D-I scholarship offers," Elite 11 coach (and ESPN analyst) Trent Dilfer told the group. "Everyone here impressed the coaches. This group was even more impressive than the one in Dallas a few weeks ago. It's a bottom-line business, and there is only gonna be one from this group. The MVP of the Atlanta regional and the bid to the Elite 11 goes to Anthony Jennings." here's the list of the 11 QB's that made the 2013 Elite 11 so far -- nine of them were committed: Alabama (Bateman), Georgia (Ramsey), Texas (Swoopes), Southern Cal (Browne), Michigan (Morris), Miami (Olsen), Notre Dame (Zaire), Ohio State (Barrett), Oklahoma State (Del Rio)... now ten of them are committed with Jennings committing to LSU...the other is DeVante Kincade his highlights from the Alanta Elite 11 QB camp: http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=8015843 offers he has from Big Five conferences so far: SEC: LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Missouri, Miss State, Ole Miss, Kentucky ACC: Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Boston College Pac 12: Oregon, Washington, Colorado Big Ten: Nebraska, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois Big 12: West Virginia ESPN Scouting Report: Jennings is a great looking player at the position. He is tall and well-built with strength as both a thrower and runner. He is a passer first, runner second and generally becomes a runner only when things break down in the passing game, but we would still classify him as ... [I assume they go on to say they classify him as a dual-threat because he is just that athletic, and if you look at his highlights, the guy is insanely athletic] 2011 stats as a junior in high school: 2,200 yards passing with 20 touchdowns. 500 yards rushing and 8 touchdowns. that is an outstanding read from start to finish love how they call him the "the perfect storm" love how he played through the pain like that love how he released a press statement, very professional, don't think i've seen a recruit do that before really, that is just a great press statement he released, the whole thing. hats off to the guy
Huge Pickup...I wonder if Rettig will stick now....went from QB position as a weakness to one of the most talented
What does this say about Jeremy Liggins? Are they planning to move him to LB or DL? What is the outlook for which QBs are going to play when? Lots of questions are popping up.
Don't think Liggins has much to do with it. We need QBs and lost 2 seniors last year and a walk-on. Need bodies and got two good ones. If anything, Randall might be a bigger reason. However, we planned on taking 2 QBs since last year. We target over a year ahead to fill in depth.
