I have been hoping that LSU would get one more OL since they only have 3 right now (assuming Lawson remains on defense). IF LSU can sign 26 which is my understanding with the early enrollment of 1 player, they would have room for 1 more OL. Andy Dodd a current verbal to little Nicky, seems ready to switch to LSU. Here is the link from today's article. For the star watchers, Dodd is 3* on Rivals and Scouts, 4* on 24/7 and ESPN. http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2012/07/alabama_lineman_commit_andy_do.html For those who like to look at offers like I do, impressive list: Alabama, Florida State, Maryland, Georgia Tech, Miami, LSU, South Carolina, Mississippi State. Plays TE and catches some passes in the first 3 clips and then OT the rest of the time. I like this guy. Weighs over 300 and moves like that. And his blocks are either pancakes that Dennys would be proud of or relentless blocks that sends the guy into the next county. Good technique in staying in front of his man and I saw no hint of holding which a lot of guys do and get away with it.
Would love to have this kid in this class. Can't have too many big nasties and he looks to be a good one! If he switched to LSU from Bama, wouldn't that be sweet? Interesting and worth keeping an eye on for sure.
On ESPN Insider....... Four-star offensive line recruit Andy Dodd (Lindale, Ga./Pepperell) will visit LSU this weekend. Here's the issue...he's an Alabama commit. Dodd is seriously considering flipping to the Tigers according to Matt Scalici of Al.com. Jimmy D. Smith of Tigersportsworld.com added, "We have learned through speaking to sources and family members that OL Andy Dodd is planning a visit to LSU later this week and plans on switching his commitment. Word is that he likes Bama but for various reasons doesn't see himself playing there. LSU seems to be the school he has in his (sights)." It appears as if Dodd already made his choice, and LSU will emerge as the winner in this particular recruiting battle. Alabama has one offer out to a potential guard, Tyrone Crawford (Rockingham, N.C./Richmond), that could replace Dodd in the class. Or, the Crimson Tide could add another offensive tackle recruit. Alabama is still targeting four uncommitted tackles.
You know, about the only type of trickeration we haven't seen from Lesticles is the tackle eligible. Here's the guy who can run it.
Wondering why I couldn't find Tyrone Crawford when I looked him up...his name is actually Tyrone Crowder.
Good info...didn't know that AW played TE in HS. It is tough to judge a guy on these "highlight" videos, particularly the OL, because of course we have no idea how good the defensive players were. Having said that, he was blocking large players, medium sized players, and even some secondary guys. What impressed me was that he stayed in front of all of them and either rode them way out of the play or put them on the ground. And like I said before, you see the really poor technique/slower feet guys "reach" for their targets which means they are usually holding. I see none of that with this guy, so even if he is playing against poor competition, his technique is still fundamentally sound.
I think that's why OL prospects are about a star too low until the all star games and high school playoffs come around. Right now, Malone and this guy are 3 stars, but I bet they'll be ranked higher before it's all over.
He is already 4* on two sites..ESPN and 24/7. He certainly looks like a 4* on Rivals. Scouts I have given up on trying to figure those clowns out. Seems like every single year, they rate LSU signees the lowest of all the services...and I think they get proven wrong every single year.
Dandy don is the one that seems off this year. His son is doing a great job with the site, but I think not as good right now as Don was. I miss him.
