i have buddies that told me they weren't able to stream laptop-to-TV because they don't have the HDMI hookup on their TVs (which are newer TVs). actually, in one of their cases, he might not have had the HDMI hookup on his brand-new laptop, can't remember off the top of my head. i called my buddy who is a tech dork today to ask what they should do in that case, and he said you can use a regular old VGA monitor cable from your laptop to TV, and that all newer TVs should have the VGA port... but that you might need a VGA to DVI Adapter, which you can get at Best Buy, Radio Shack, etc

honestly, it's all greek to me. i've never cared to know how to stream from my computer to my tv before, and 95% of the people i know are the same way

this is from a 9-month-old article (Sept '12) i just looked up: "When you buy a new computer, it’s important to look at what type of output ports it supports. ...Three of them are still actively competing for a spot on your laptop’s side. These are VGA, DVI and HDMI...there’s no clearcut standard..."

--"DVI (digitial video) is appearing more and more" (there are multiple types of DVI connectors)...

--"HDMI (digital video plus digital audio) has known a quick rise to fame" (there are five different HDMI connector types, type A, the most famous, is what you'll usually find)

“We want Ryan (Eades) to go all nine innings (today),” Mainieri said. “We will probably extend him longer than we have all year because we need to save our bullpen. I hope we only play three games this weekend because there is a possibility to play five. You have to have as many arms as possible, and it’s the reason we are pitching Ryan first. We need him to pitch for as many innings as possible on that first day.”

Eades:
“I try to take that upon myself each start. I try to go as deeply into the ball game as I can. What [pitching coach Alan Dunn] kind of preaches to the starting pitchers is we aren’t going out there to pitch five innings – we are going out there to pitch nine. Whether or not that happens every time, the game will dictate that and he’ll make that call. We are just going to go out there and go as deep as we can. When they take the ball from us, that’s it. But we just want to go deep into the ball game and save our bullpen. ... We will take it one game at a time and give it everything we’ve got.”

“Jacoby (Jones) is 100 percent ready to play this weekend and he’s practiced for three days now. He’s hitting balls over the bleachers, taking ground balls and running the bases, so he’s ready to go. Mark Laird is better than I thought he would be but he still has a little way to go. You won’t see him in the game tomorrow, but he might be available for limited action on Saturday and Sunday.”
