It was good to see that Rivers has made progress and can be a capable backup. Back to Jennings, one play that I thought was noteworthy was when he dropped back to pass and had two D-Line guys all over him. His athleticism allowed him to shake them off just long enough to break out of the pocket and throw it away safely out of bounds. That one play showed the combination of athletic ability and "between the ears" intangibles that we all want in a QB. The spring game was my only time ever seeing Jennings play so it's a small sample size but he always threw the ball on time and to the correct option.
He had one play where he was being wrapped up by Ego and still threw the ball for a little over 40 yds.
Did you guys see that play where he completed a 120-yard touchdown strike from the bottom of a dogpile?
Hopefully all the offensive recruits in attendance could see the future looks bright on offense from a coaching and quarterback perspective.....my BF went and said he did exactly what you just said, all the correct throws....not that he knows anything.
I always thought of Charlie Ward as more of a passing QB than a dual threat and just looked up his stats from his Heisman year. He had 69.5% completion with 3,032 yards (22 passing TDs / 4 INTs) and "only" 339 yards rushing. I guess that's dual threat but slanted more towards being a passer. I wonder if he would have ever made it in the NFL (as a better than average starting QB) if he had gone that route. It's really unfair to compare Jennings to any of the great QBs listed as a comparison although both Ward and Jennings are 6'2 and my hope is that Jennings can one day develop into the type of QB that has a similar stat line (3,000 yds passing and 300 rushing).
I tried all of these and heard a lot of NBA (run, shoot, run, shoot, dunk, dunk, run, shoot-BORING!) BS, but no LSU football.....
Anyone who has seen him film knows he's not a running QB and that's what exciting for me. He's a very poised QB who just happens to be able to run. I didn't think his arm was as big as he supposed showed in the Spring, but he has some zip on the ball I'm told. First of all, Tebow has two MNCs so it's three between Newton and Tebow. Some will shrug off Tebow's first, but those people have poor memories. Tebow contributed more to UF's first MNC than Perrilloux did LSU's in 2007 and I think we all agree that LSU is still sitting with just one crystal football without RP. While winning a Nat'l Championship is the ultimate goal, it's not the only prerequisite to what deems a successful season or shows that a running QB can indeed play well in the SEC. All three of those guys showed that they belong in the best NCAA football league.
I never said he didn't have 2, I said he and Manziel didn't produce a championship during their Heisman campaign.
