Don't believe so but I think it counts against their rushing yardage in the NCAA unless that has changed recently.

Everyone likes to make comparisons but every individual is different in some way.

The limited knowledge I have of Jennings is that he's much more similar to Mauck/Flynn than to Jefferson, Tyler, or Randall.

Jefferson was a tall QB without much throwing accuracy. Tyler was a smaller QB (under 6' I think) and I'd like to add was a very good college QB. Randall was a good athlete but not a polished QB.

Mauck and Flynn both had very good athleticism and roughly the same height as Jennings. Mauck developed into more of a passer after his injury. Both Flynn and Mauck had very good intangibles and command of the huddle. That seems to be consistent with everything I've seen or heard about Jennings.

I remember many saying that before Mauck made it to LSU that he was gonna be moved to Safety, WR, etc., he'd never play QB at LSU. With Cam in the picture, we have one of the deeper QB positions in college. LSU looks to sign another QB for this upcoming class. Cam gets to pick his guy. Too much good can come out of this.

Personally, I LOVE a passing QB that can take off when needed...as long as he knows when to slide.

why do you have Tyler and Randall on that list?

Neither of them were recruited to play QB at LSU, they were recruited to play other positions but were pressed into emergency QB duty due to lack of depth at the position. Here are Randall's high school stats from LSU Sports: "Completed 69 of 144 passes (47.9%) for 1,117 yards." And Herb Tyler measured 5-11, 203 at the combine. Some comments on Herb Tyler:

--A last minute signee from O.Perry Walker as a DB. Had to play towards the end of his Freshman year in 95 when Jamie Howard was injured in the Bama game in Tuscalousa. He had a gun and could run, greatly underappreciated Tiger.

--Tyler, the unheralded recruit from O. Perry Walker who wound up due mostly to coincidence and timing as a four-year starter for the Purple and Gold.

--Tyler took over as a true freshman for Coach Gerry DiNardo's first team after senior Jamie Howard went out with a career-ending injury. DiNardo's quarterback cupboard was bare. Yet Tyler stood out as an intriguing specimen while working as a scout team signal caller running an option offense in practice.

and how in the hell did Perrilloux or Tyler not "get it done" at LSU?

Ryan Perrilloux -- his off-the-field antics got him kicked out of LSU, but on the field, Perilloux only had two starts at LSU:
    2007 Middle Tennessee -- 20 of 25 for 298 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT, plus 37 yards rushing (4.6 ypc)
2007 SEC Championship Game -- named MVP, accounted for every point scored by the LSU offense that wasn't scored by kicker Colt David or the defense...he was 20 of 30 for 243 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, plus 14 yards rushing, including running for a successful two-point conversion run that put LSU up 21-14 (it was Tenn 14, LSU 13 before that)

Herb Tyler -- despite not even being recruited to play QB, he was one of the most successful QBs in LSU history...

--during his first 31 games as a starter, LSU went 26-5, including a #12 finish in 1996 and #13 finish in 1997

--in 1998, Tyler was one of the 13 finalists for the Johnny Unitas Award that goes to the nation's top QB -- along with Daunte Culpepper (also black), Donovan McNabb (also black), Michael Bishop (also black), Oscar Davenport (also black), Corby Jones (also black), Shawn King (also black), Joe Germaine, Brock Huard, Brian Kuklick, Graham Leigh, Cade McNown, and Branndon Stewart

--With 6,654 combined passing and rushing yards in 36 games, Tyler was the third player in LSU history to finish his career with more than 6,000 yards of total offense, behind Tommy Hodson and Jeff Wickersham (6,705 yards).

--With an average of 6.61 yards of total offense per play, Tyler was the first quarterback in LSU history (and the fifth quarterback in SEC history) to average above 6.0 yards of total offense per play (minimum 900 plays).

--With an average of 184.8 yards of total offense per game, Tyler was the second player in LSU history to surpass 180 yards of total offense per game, behind Tommy Hodson (203.1)

--Tyler's 23 rushing touchdowns were the most of any quarterback in LSU history

--With 63 combined passing and rushing touchdowns, Tyler had more touchdowns that any dual-threat quarterback in SEC history since Auburn's Heisman-winner Pat Sullivan's 71 touchdowns (53 passing, 18 rushing) during 1969-1971.

as for Jordan Jefferson, anybody could look at him and tell you that his passing mechanics needed work. that's why, despite being the Louisiana Class 5A Offensive Player of the Year, and despite going undefeated as a high school QB (21-0 record), JJ only got scholarships to two schools: LSU and Ole Miss. Now compare that to the scholarships Anthony Jennings got: LSU, Alabama, Oregon, Washington, Arkansas, Auburn, Ole Miss, Miss State, Missouri, Kentucky, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Virginia Tech, UNC, Boston College, Colorado, Syracuse, Cincinnati, South Florida, SMU, Ohio, ECU, Arkansas State, DO YOU SEE THE DIFFERENCE, RED???

as for a "running QB," JJ's big and strong and could power through some people but that was it, he was not a good open-field runner, and he wasn't a good scrambler. for ex:

JJ got sacked 75 times in his career....and he only had 678 career pass attempts, meaning he got sacked 1 time for every 9 times he attempted a pass

compare that to Mett last year with our OL that suffered injuries across the board (including the loss of our LT): sacked 32 times while getting off 352 pass attempts, meaning Mett got sacked 1 time for every 11 times he attempted a pass

finally, as for a list of QBs that have not gotten it done at LSU, would you also include...

Zach Mettenberger? Jarrett Lee? Zach Lee? Chris Garrett? Josh Booty? Rick Clausen? Bryan Sparacino? Jamie Howard? Jesse Daigle? Chad Loup? Sol Graves?

really, since Tommy Hodson, the only QBs that have gotten it done have been Matt Flynn, Matt Mauck, Rohan Davey, JaMarcus Russell, Herb Tyler and Ryan Perrilloux (albeit only over 2 starts)

Look chief, the thread is about the spring game and Jennings passings stats were not very good. Understand? That is why I asked the question.

You are still trying to make this into a black quarterback thing for reasons known only to you. And it's bullshit.

you've been bashing Jennings because he was a black QB ever since we originally got a verbal commitment him as a recruit. that's cool that your words say you are cool with a black QB, but your actions speak louder than words
