1. D-lineman Bookend DE Studs in Herron and Bower, Gilmore will be a great DT and Bain has a lot of upside as well, Patterson and Neal are going to be effective rotational players at DE 2. QB Got a top rated Pro-Style and Dual Threat QB in Rettig and Jennings. 3. WRs with length Quintavious Leslie at 6'4" and Kevin Spears at 6'3" will be very welcome additions. Leslie is a JUCO and will contribute immediately. Avery Johnson as well at 6'2". John Diarse, while not a tall receiver, will be potentially the best of the haul. 4. DB We get blue chipper Tre'Davious White as well as Ricky Jefferson and Rashard Robinson. 5. OL Josh Boutte is going to be a great one. Andy Dodd and Ethan Pocic are poised to be starters as well down the line. KJ Malone rounds out the haul nicely. 6. TE Finally, LSU lands a high profile TE in DeSean Smith. At 6'4" and 230 lbs, he will be a big athletic TE the likes we have not seen in a while at LSU. Logan Stokes will be a good versatile blocking TE. 7. LB Kendell Beckwith is going to be a beast.
I would say we could have used another Safety in this class or just a plain tweener CB/S in case Rashad Robinson doesn't qualify. I think we will try Jefferson at Safety. We always have good DBs but our depth took a big hit. Now if Leslie doesn't qualify we will need to make that up with 2 big WRs next class. Hopefully Dural can stay healthy. Also Hope Avery can tansistion smoothly but he didn'y play football last year so I would think a redshirt is very possible.
I was going to comment on the safety spot as well. Wasn't Cutrer slotted for safety had he qualified? Hopefully we can get him signed in the class next year.
Another note on that: LSU actually decided to call Beckwith before officially offering Riley just to make sure he was ok with it. They told him all year he would be the only OLB they would take but Riley committed to TCU without the full offer. Beckwith had no hesitation and had no problems at all with it.
Great class guys but I am not comfortable being behind Florida, Alabama & of all people Ole Miss. I know that's just paper rating I know but I sure wish we were first in our conference.
