Actually, that was never really Jefferson's problem...that was Jarrett Lee's. Jefferson's was more holding on to the ball too long, have a run first and pass second mentality, and having a windup that Don Drysdale would have been proud of, hence the inconsistent release point resulting in passes going to peoples' feet a lot of the time. IMO, a quick summary of problems of the two QBs: Jefferson = inconsistent release point which hurt his accuracy and also always wanted to run more than he wanted to pass. And due to his long windup to throw, if they sent to the gallows Jefferson for a "quick release", they would be hanging an innocent man. Lee = very accurate passer who unfortunately never learned how to find the LBer and safety/read coverages. If you would notice in "read and run routes" commonly used today in the passing game, the WRs and the QBs have to see the same thing. IMO, the WRs read the coverage properly and Lee did not. Many times, INTs are by the CB because the pass isn't accurate enough. Jarrett Lee didn't have that problem. It became crystal clear to me and others I've talked to that Jarrett Lee threw the ball exactly where he THOUGHT the ball should be thrown. But the free safeties and the LBers just ate his lunch ...wasn't the coverage CBs though, I'll give him that.
I was referring to mental status. JJ had a poor attitude and believed it was all about him and never his fault in any loss. To go along with everything else you said about his football ability.
Gotta love the fact that, after all the shalacking his big bro took (spell if for me tirk) he's not scared.
I pretty much agree with you here but to be fair, you could make a negative case for both QBs. For example, Jarrett Lee did NOT roast the staff after the NC game for not putting him in (to his credit) but did say "I think I could have done some things." OK, Jarrett what would you have done differently than the first Alabama game where LSU played a little better and in a little over 1 quarter, you threw 2 INTs right to Alabama defenders where the LSU WRs ran one route and you read the coverage wrong. You think Alabama is going to be more stupid this time? Anyway, getting back to your point about Jefferson, what annoyed me as much as anything was his Clark Kent to Superman change after he did 1 thing right (unzipping air around his jersey). Uh, Superman doesn't make 3 bad things happen and then bring attention to himself for one good action. I certainly agree that he never took any blame for anything. I will say that the bar club incident was a JOKE and NEVER should have even been prosecuted and quite frankly I don't think it ever will be after the Grand Jury dropped the charges down to a misdemeanor. How the BR DA and the police chief have their jobs is amazing to me! Bottom line as I said once before: Jefferson and Lee should have been competing for the QB at North Dakota State not Louisiana State. Both were rated good out of HS but some players simply can't make the jump from HS to major college, especially the SEC. Examples: Brock Berlin (FL), Mitch Mustain (ARK), Josh Booty(LSU), guy at South Carolina finally booted off the team, Rick Clausen (at LSU and Tennessee both), etc, etc, You can now add Jarrett Lee and Jordan Jefferson to that list.
Painting with a pretty broad brush aren't we? Many families have siblings with totally different personalities so don't assume. Do you have any evidence that Ricky has the same issues his brother did? Why not welcome the #3 rated player in the state and relish a great recruiting effort rather that darken things with unfounded suspisions?
There was no problem with Jordan's attitude...the problem was with his execution. (I know, no execution jokes)
Everyone's personality is different. Having said that, I know what the people talking attitude are talking about. 1) SEEMED to sulk on the sidelines when Lee got a lot of playing time (obviously just my opinion) 2) the already described Clark Kent to Superman display after scoring which BTW, he is not the first player in the SEC to do that nor is he the first to bring attention to himself for scoring when umteen other teammates made it possible 3) the post NC game interview where basically he took 0 blame for the loss and acted like a different game plan would have allowed him to move the team better 4) despite my opinion that the barroom brawl thing was incredibly overblown, a SR should not have put himself in that position to begin with Anyway, I agree that the ONLY reason his attitude got brought up was that he wasn't Andrew Luck in his execution...wasn't even a starting caliber SEC QB IMO. Arrogance or a bad attitude amazingly changes into confidence and leadership and intensity when you perform well.
