24/7 Sports reports 2013 CB Rashard Robinson commits to LSU. #22 for 2013. Great pickup by CLM & the Staff! Welcome to Tiger Town Rashard! http://lsu.247sports.com/Article/Rashard-Robinson-commits-to-LSU-83035
Nice pickup. Quite frankly I was giving up on him a bit because for whatever reason, it seemed to take longer than it should. For stargazers, he is 4* on Rivals and 24/7 Recruiting and high 3* on ESPN and Scouts. I was looking for either 3 DL and 1 DB or 2 DL and 2 DB for the final 4 commits. Hopefully it is now 2 and 2 because like some here, I really want Priest Willis. I never thought LSU had squat of a chance for Goodman and I don't think LSU ever wanted Likely even though he was very high on LSU if you believe the services. LSU didn't want Burns either from what I could tell and he committed to Alabama I think anyway. So, let's wrap this up with Willis and 2 of these 5...Gilmore, T Williams, Manning, Beckwith, and Crayton. If LSU does this, IMO, this will be the strongest finish in LSU recruiting history.
Well we struck gold in ely highschool before this guys got great size needs a little weight but lsu strength program will take care of that. Now get Willis with Gilmore and Williams ( I don't like our chances with beckwith) just off of opinion, and let's wrap it up. Have we ever had a complete recruiting class before the start of a season?
he's from the same high school as Patrick Peterson... Blanche Ely High School in Pompano Beach, Florida -- keeping that Florida pipeline open 247 -- #16 CB (4-star) Rivals -- #24 CB (4-star) Scout -- #30 CB (3-star) ESPN -- #68 CB (3-star) offers: LSU, Oklahoma, Florida State, Miami, Arkansas, West Virginia, etc June 10, 2012 -- "I thought my first offer would come from FIU," Robinson said. "it was a shock to hear from FSU first and then LSU came second." FSU and LSU were followed by offers from Syracuse, Ole Miss and, most recently, Oklahoma. "I'm very excited about the Oklahoma offer because it's just a big-time program," Robinson said. "I talked with Coach Stoops and he's a real good guy. I can't wait to get up there. They really like what I can do on the field and how I project at the next level." "Tennessee and Miami are on the verge of offering and it's all a blessing for me." June 13, 2012 -- at Florida State's Jimbo Fisher Camp, Rashard Robinson was impossible to miss. ... Florida State's coaches definitely didn't, as defensive coordinator Mark Stoops and head coach Jimbo Fisher watched the Pompano Beach (Fla.) Ely cornerback recruit with great interest. Despite his height -- tall for a corner -- Robinson showed impressive agility and change of direction during drills. June 27, 2012 -- Rashard Robinson wowed the Miami coaching staff last week with an impressive performance at last week's camp. Today the Miami staff let Robinson know that he now has an offer.
The Tigers get a good one in Robinson, no doubt. Now if we can finish with Gilmore, Willis and T. Williams or Beckwith, this class will be absolutely sick! I don't think we'll get both Williams & Beckwith, but hope I'm wrong. Only three, maybe four spots left now. Wish we could figure out how to get R. Crayton to Tiger Town as well!
Yeah, he is a toothpick with that low weight, but Moffitt is the best strength coach in the US which is why Alabama tried to hire him away from LSU. I agree with your prognosis of the last 3. The easiest ? is LSU has never come remotely close to getting 25 before the 1st game of the season. Last season for example, LSU only had 16 going into December. I hope actually you are correct. I have been one who really don't want both Williams and Beckwith...too similar in size and of course LSU needs another DT unless they can move one of the DEs there. Right now, it is supposedly 3 DE verbals and only 1 DT (Lawson). I agree with you of course about Crayton. I thought at one time LSU could take 26, and I believe the Advocate article said that if LSU got Bolden, he would NOT count against ANY class. That would be interesting. IF that is the case, then LSU should be able to backdate an early enrollee into last year's under max class as long as LSU doesn't exceed 85 total at any time. That is how USC is going over their reduced scholarship limit and A&M is already over 25 (the SEC of course have the 25 "hard" limit but apparently can still be breached via early enrollees and counted against the previous class.
Gilmore Williams and Willis to closeout is what I'm hoping for. But even if we get those three, our current class won't be the class we sign. There's too much time between now and signing day and things always change.
The reason for the wait was because LSU wanted to see him in camp first. (Remember he tried to commit a while back) He came in 2 weeks ago and then got his family down yesterday.
Welcome aboard Mr. Robinson! There is a chance that we could wrap up recruiting before the season begins, or at least pretty close to it. Can anyone remember any other years like this? I cannot recall ever having this many commits at this point of the season. Not complaining, just wondering.....
