@JNewbergESPN Jamie Newberg Turns out, Landon Collins was at LSU yesterday. After initially denying it, he texted me again to let me know he did visit the Tigers.
these are the possible competitors for Barron's safety spot (these guys will also be in the competition for nickel back, known as the "star" position at Bama): --senior Will Lowery --junior Nick Perry --sophomore Vinnie Sunseri --sophomore Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix --freshman Landon Collins --freshman Eddie Williams according to this recent discussion on the Bama 247 board, they think it's going to be a battle between sophomore Clinton-Dix and freshman Collins (both are 5-star safety prospects) for the spot vacated by Barron... with Vinnie Sunseri in the mix as well. Hasean Clinton-Dix --2011 Rivals #1 safety, #7 on the Rivals 100, 5-star --2011 Scout #1 safety, #7 on the Scout 300, 5-star --2011 247 Sports #2 safety, #19 on the Top 247, 5-star --2011 ESPN #2 safety, #19 on the ESPN 150, high 4-star Landon Collins --2012 247 Sports #1 safety, #3 on the Top 247, 5-star --2012 ESPN #1 safety, #6 on the ESPN 150, 5-star --2012 Scout #2 safety, #8 on the Scout 300, 5-star --2012 Rivals #2 safety, #17 on Rivals 100, 5-star as for Vinnie Sunseri, he was on the SEC All-Freshman team last year as a true freshman, and was #9 on Bama's team with 30 tackles. he was a 4-star recruit by ESPN (who wrote "this guy is simply a darn good football player when you put on the film with great intangibles"). his father is Sal Sunseri, who is the new DC of Tennessee (for the 4 years before that, he was Saban's LB coach at Bama) however, on the two depth charts I checked for Bama's 2011 team, they had Will Lowery (a walk-on) and Nick Perry (a 2010 Rivals 4-star/Scout 4-star safety with an offer to LSU) as the #2 and #3 behind Barron, with Hasean Clinton-Dix #4 but, a couple months ago in the Iron Bowl, Barron was hurt, Lowery was hurt, and they started Sunseri over Perry (not sure if Perry was hurt as well or what). Sunseri did so well in that game that Saban said "Vinnie did a good job...I think he did a wonderful job out there today") TideSports.com - Notebook: Sunseri steps up finally, Bama's got another 5-star prospect coming in this year with Collins that could compete at safety as well: Eddie Williams --2012 247 Sports #2 athlete, #8 on the Top 247, 5-star --2012 ESPN #3 athlete, #11 on the ESPN 150, 5-star --2012 Rivals #1 athlete, #24 on Rivals 100, 5-star --2012 Scout #3 safety, #53 on the Scout 300, high 4-star
We really need to let this kid go. He wants to go to Bama, get away from home be with his woman. Its fine but even if he did flip. He did because he got browbeat by his Mamma and from local people. The kid wants to go to bama, he will be a good one for sure. But we will be O.K. I wish him great success.
This kid is making a fool of himself. He needs to stop playing these games. Look, you wanna move away? fine, go, but stiring the pot is just to get his name in the media. If he comes here, great, if not, i look forward to jarvis landry cracking his a$$ on a block downfield.
bhelmLSU - I understand you are one of the guru's of sort on this site, but come on really Collins was on campus yesterday? Doesn't make any sense are you sure about that? I personally hope so but it just seems unlikely what does he have to gain, trying to make good with the coaches after he disappointed them probably not. He just doesn't seem like the type to flip although I hope he does, but spending that much time on campus he has to know that Saban would throw a sh*t fit. Are you positive he was on campus?
