He has pushed back his announcement and we should hear something within the next week or so.

LSU is in the lead still.

Gee, I hope we don't have another sub-par 10 win season. We are sure to scare all these boys off.

According to Mike S, the LSU coaching staff wants him to get to know Gonzales better before committing.

    Committed to Maryland

I assume UNC wasn't ready to accept a commit from him either.

The kid probably committed to Maryland just to lock up a spot early and is going to still take all his visits and "keep his recruitment open"...like most of these kids do. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up somewhere else when it's all over.

I swear, recruiting has become a real circus with the early commits and subsequent decommits. Commitments are about as binding as "going steady" with your girlfriend...and are actually just as juvenile, with the coaches having to continually court these young athletes. Maybe the NCAA will allow the coaches to give their commitments "promise rings" so they can pretend that they're married.

The presidents of the universities ought to put their feet down and demand that the recruits should be able to sign binding letters of intent at any time during their senior year. But maybe that's just too honest and upfront for the NCAA to go along with.

If this happens, it just means that no one is going to give a commitment until signing day...
