Yep. All those good coaches in one conference keeps the competition level very high and pushes all of them to maintain the high level of their games. With Texas and OU dominating the "Whatchamacallit" conference...it becomes a real problem...Just like when the old big 8 was the "Big 2, little 6". That conference is doomed. It'll be gone in a couple of years. Bradley Sylve. (Not a total hijack.) They say LSU still isn't out of it for him....but we should be. I hate the concept of commitments. High school kids are about as serious with these commitments as they are with going steady with their girlfriends. Seniors should be able to sign LOIs anytime after their senior year. Commitments should be for juniors only. I cant believe the networks think they have the power to maintain the drama of stupid hat tricks and the most boring of all star games being on one day only (NSD). The tail is wagging the dog, but in reality, the college football product is what the fans want to see....and not necessarily on ESPN. If the networks want to build up year long excitement that culminates in National Signing Day...They should reimburse the major universities for recruiting expenses because it costs extra millions of $$ flying staff and recruits all around just to show them "love" after they commit early during the season. Bradley Sylve...(this is not another hijack) :yelwink2:.
Not hearing much on Sylve, but recruiting ends up being about the Head coach, momma, and how much smoke the recruit wants to send up. All we heard this week around here is that Erique Florence was kicked off his football team and he was transferring to another school. The recruiting network kicks in, now Andrew Bone of Tidesports, BOL, ESPN twitters in a matter of minutes. Turns out, he missed some work outs, he's not off the team. He walks around with Auburn gear one day, People see him with Bama gear another. Say's "he wants to keep them guessing". For many, recruiting is like Disneyland, strap in it's just a ride. The Kids probably confuse themselves at times with all this cloak and dagger stuff. Here's the rub, it's not like the proposed playoffs. Basketball actually signs these kids early and it works just fine. With so many kids committing early why not let them sign. The NCAA handles recruiting as if it were an actual sport. No wonder these kids want to play. This weeks pictures.
I wouldn't. I like Richt and think he isn't as shady as many others. However, Georgia has more fertile recruiting grounds than either Alabama or Louisiana, but doesn't pull in better classes. In addition, Richt may be too nice because his attrition rate is low so he doesn't sign as many new recruits each year. Therefore he isn't showing his weakest players the door and getting fresh talent in the program at the same rate as someone like Saban.
I doubt Saban would have gone undefeated with JJ at QB last year. He didn't do much player development with young, inexperienced QBs at LSU.
It should also be understodd that in year's when Louisiana's high school talemnt is deep, you're going to see some very talented guys sign out of state. It can't be helped. LSU can't offer them all.
I think he(Sylve) likely signs with LSU, my concern is that Beckham Jr, will sign with Miami. The only hope I have with Beckham, Jr is that he hasn't already signed with the U, maybe because his family is putting pressure on him to stay at home.
I am still worried about Miami but it seems like he is getting closer and closer to the in-state prospects committed to LSU. They all refer to themselves as the "Fam" and Odell has been included in that group. Jarvis Landry seems to be the main guy recruiting him out of the committed prospects.
I think if Sylve signs with LSU it will actually hurt with Beckham. It sends up two flags for him. 1. Hes a similar mold as Sylve, so PT might be a issue as slot guy 2. LSU is lying and really intends for him to be a CB It is true Miami has a couple guys already committed like him. But LSU will have two guys similar to him if Sylve/Landry sign with us. I honestly don't think Beckham will be a WR here, just as I don't think Fobbs will stay at WR. LSU won't exactly go against their promise but if they don't blow it up at WR, they'll slip him into the position they originally recruited him to.
It is (becoming) well-known that UGA does the dirtiest recruiting in the SEC. Thats more of a sign that you have been at a place for a while. Once you have stability - you dont have much turnover.
