I was thinking how this years team compared to last years in each phase of the game. In all honesty the only edge I can give to last year's team is in the kicking game. I think Josh Jasper and Patrick Petersen were the difference there. I'm sure we are infinetly better on offense, including play calling and the defense is a little better this year because of depth and experience in the secondary. Punting is superb this year with Wing, but Helton could flip the field last year too. Any other thoughts?
This year we have a legitimate downfield passing game. Last year the book to beat LSU said to stack the line with 8, stop Ridley, and dare Jefferson to throw. That book does not work against Lee. This is why Les will keep playing Lee when we need to move down the field and score. Jefferson comes in handy when we are running long drives to eat up clock. He has legs which come in handy in obvious running situations. It gives us another running back and protects Lee from injury. We don't need Lee to get hurt handing off the football in a running drive. Jefferson is a big man, more durable, and a serious rushing threat. And he can pass the ball when you least expect it.
