I still think LSU can still finish 3rd but it will probably take 1 more decommit from Texas for that to happen (which is not out of the question). I don't see LSU finishing any worse than 5th.

Based on Scout/Rivals projections and rough estimate point projection increases:

    1. Alabama (2502) - 5 Kouandjio
    2. FSU (2427) -5 Steward, 4 Jernigan
    3. Texas (2322)
    4. LSU (2256) - 4 Rasco, 4 MJohnson
    5. USC (2220) - 4 Lee, 4 Pomee
    6. Georgia (2212) - 5 Drew, 5 Crowell, 4 Staley
    7. Auburn (2110) - 4 Florence
    8. Oregon (2012) - 4 Heyward, 4 Simmon
    9. Notre Dame (1954) - 4 Niklas
    10. Ohio State (1940) - 5 Grant, 4 Walker

MJohnson is actually projected elsewhere, but the scuttlebutt on him is that he is LSU's if we don't steal Jernigan, so I made that single adjustment.

So LSU could finish anywhere from 4 to 6 most likely.

    For those that care:

Removing the kicker LSU picked up the average star rating of the top 3 schools is as follows:

    1) Alabama 3.81
    2) Texas 3.77
    3) LSU 3.72

I only checked for AL & TX, and found that Texas also has a two star kicker, but your general point is true --- LSU has a great class.

For recruiting, my thought is that it's not as important to be number 1, 2, 3, etc, but rather, what's most important is to be ranked in at least in the top ten every year. With good coaching and luck, that can produce a fair share of championships. Let's hope that our coaching issues are behind us and our luck holds out.

Texas doesn't have a 2 star kicker as a commitment.

    I would go:

    1. Alabama
    2. Texas
    3. LSU
    4. FSU

FSU already has 25 commitments. Texas and LSU can still add a couple of more. I see LSU jumping FSU.

FSU basically has 5 star Steward in the bag. And we are already behind FSU, so unlessl some miracle happens, that won't be the case.

They just picked up a 4 star and that I didn't include in the projection list. They actually now have a legit chance to finish #1.

Gators had "the best class ever" last year and not cracking the top 10 this year? Intersting.

Mostly due to a low number, not necessarily quality. Not sure what their target number was, but they have not even reached 20 (only 16).

If you added 4 more four star players to get to the 20 mark rivals uses in their computations, they would be ranked 8th, just to give you an idea.

The coaching change obviously has something to do with the fact they didn't really have a shot at any of the 5 star players.
