I think rivals missed the boat on about 3 of our three star players not getting a 4th star. So I think of this class as closer to 3.86 (without the kicker). So the class is outstanding, but we already knew that and don't need rivals or any other service to tell us so.
true. and i think one of the things that is going to continue to make them outstanding, and something that cannot be measured by individual stars, or class rankings, is how close most of them already are. "the fam". i think that the bond and commitment to lsu they have developed is gonna pay big dividends early. they are ready to achieve championships as a team. i think/hope the fam is gonna be a force to be reckoned with.
Who would those players be? Eugene? Turner? Rivers? Magee definitely should have been 4 stars, but I think his size prevented that.
Magee and Randle were the biggest travesties. And then Turner. Randle will see considerable action as a true freshman.
i see both isl and bb11 talking about rivals under rating some guys. i also read a lot about the rivals/bama connection, and how players who commit to bama seem to get higher rankings. is that just conspiracy theory? or in y'all minds (mm included) is that a legit argument? even if not "conspiracy", does rivals engage in favoritism? or is this just missing the boat on a few recruits not signed with bama?
If I remember correctly, the guy who runs rivals is either a bama alum or a bama fan. Whatever the case, it's beyond mere speculation.
Rivals was founded by Shannon "Lucky" Terry..(a Libscomb Grad). He sold Rivals to Yahoo over four years ago. I find the "bama guy owns rivals" argument silly and amusing. btw...fox owns scout.com As far as Randle goes...it just seems as though there wasnt as much time spent evaluating the Texas area as in the past. Travon committed early and may just have not gotten re evaluated in the end.
To add what MM said about size, I think both Magee and Turner were also hurt some because of them playing QB in HS.
