lol .....well the feeling is understandable he is at Northwestern Miami's pipeline but Shannon been slipping a lil bit so its possible and I think he wants to play in the SEC.
Teddy is still claiming that LSU is in the picture and I expect him to take an official visit here sometime this fall. Hard to believe we have much of a shot of taking him out of Miami but I am glad to get him here. Maybe Avery Johnson has been in his ear. Avery is recruiting left and right for us right now.
We are in it more than most think. A commit from Mett could change that some but Mett is at the top of our board. Eli will likely not get an offer unless we get in a bind and need to sway Teddy even more but I still don't see it happening.
Teddy has been open about being unhappy with the direction of the program. Will be interesting to see because it could go both ways. If Miami hires a solid coach and Miami doesn't drag the hiring process out, it could help with Bridgewater.
Over the past few years, I have become rather leery of the "dual-threat" QB. Perriloux was decent, but I've seen many of them either not pan out or end up being moved to other positions. However, this guy actually REALLY impresses me. He may be Dual Threat, but he seems to be a "pass first" dual threat. He has good arm strength for the long throws and seems to have great touch and precision on many of his passes. He has GREAT pocket awareness, and has the agility to buy time and make a good pass OR run when there is green in front of him. The great thing is, unlike Jefferson, he makes the correct decision at the right time. Only concerns I might have are whether he can speed up his reads to SEC level and ball protection b/c he has a tendency to hold the ball out even after he has committed to the run. Flashes of Dennis Dixon/Darren Thomas. Would absolutely make my year to get both him and Mettenberger.
I hope we get Bridgwater and Mettenberger, but that would likely mean we end up with a two-quarterback system again since Mettenberger is a pocket-passer and Bridgewater is a dual-threat passer. I have doubts about the effectiveness of a dual-quarterback system. It seems to me it prevents either passer from developing to his full potential because neither gets the snaps he needs. That may have been part of the problem with Jefferson and Lee.
Could happen like that but not right away since Teddy actually wants to be redshirted his 1st year. Plus Mett could leave LSU for the NFL at anytime after his 1st year if he performs well. Bridgewater is more of a pocket passer than running QB from what I have seen but can do both. Not saying he is an average running threat but he prefers to throw the ball downfield when the opportunity is there. BTW, the talk about LSU is getting really heated among the Miami sources and fans.
