Just when I think the option is dead this kids comes along  I see this kid become a Skyler Green type player FWIW
I was guessing maybe LSU will have to decline the scholarship they gave to Jeremy Hill so as to save a spot for Jerrard Randall. Any news on Jeremy Hill recently?:insane:
We should all hope for a kid to succeed. It seems as though he, and his mother, are doing their best to overcome environmental struggles. The past rumors about a somewhat rough start should not concern anyone. It is less about past trials, and more about current lessons. Besides, most of the players at LSU seem to be former leaders: Russell Shepard (enough said, if it werent for him, I dont think Loston or Montgomery would be LSU Tigers) Sam Gibson (former qb, good comeback story, dad was shot, and he is striving for greatness) Reuben Randall (played some qb, quite but good kid) Ty Magee (played some qb) Armand Williams(great underdog story. good character kid) Spencer Ware (played some qb) Paul Turner (played some qb) Ronald Martin(played some qb) Eric Reid(great character kid, heard multiple stories about good nature{off field}, politeness and intelligence) Josh Downs(hard working, good kid with nonstop motor/great work ethic) Anthony Johnson(leader, fun loving, singer) Chris Davenport(rumor is that he doesnt have that killer instinct, but hes funny and a got a good sense of humor. I remember him dancing with Will Campell at the all-star game) Mike Ford(quite hard working) That all being said, I believe some kids just need the right situation to excel. Sometimes if you surround a troubled kid with good ones, the troubled kid steps up, and acclimates to his surroundings. I think it is worth using a scholarship to see how Randall does in this atmosphere. I believe one of the reasons Miles' is a successful coach is because he is a great natural father figure for many of his players, and they play hard for him.
I absolutely agree with you. A good environment can change a person's life and attitude. I think LSU happens to be that place.
Absolutely. He's a kid who grew up in a bad neighborhood and who couldnt help being shaped by it. Its a travesty that any of our nation's kids have to deal with such crap. But now he's got a great second chance to rise above it that few kids from such backgrounds ever get. Hope he makes the most of it. The coaches better have done their homework and have reason to think the young man will grow into a student athelete who reflects well on the University. I give a big yes to "second chances." On the other hand, if the coaches have no evidence this young man wants to grow and instead are just recruiting on physical talent and ignoring character, then I will be starting "Les must go" threads when too many LSU atheletes start showing up too much in the news for the wrong reasons. The Portland article Bhelm linked to raises concerns. Yea, he was just a kid then. Thats the past. But those days need to be behind him now. Umm, not sure how I feel about this guy. Sure hope we don't get lazy on the QB recruiting because I'm not even sure he'll be here in a few years... Miles has got burned several times in the past "trusting" QBs and it is the reason we're in the problem we've had for over 3 years now.
he's one of three guys being currently being featured on ESPN's college recruiting home page College Football Recruiting - ESPN direct link to article on him: Jerrard Randall turns QB from need at LSU to position of strength - ESPN his high school coach said:
...@ "locoguano", "memphisplaya" Then, you should be concerned about another 2011 QB commit that was convicted only one year ago (since teenagers can't change): - On 3 College Teams in 1 year! - charged with underage possession/consumption of alcohol, disorderly conduct, obstruction and two counts of having false identification. - pleaded guilty in Lowndes Country Superior Court Monday to two counts of misdemeanor sexual battery. - banned from stepping foot in the town of Valdosta.
