10th Rated dual threat QB by Rivals and 14th by Scout originally committed to Oregon but did not sign because his academics came into question. He was cleared by the NCAA but he says the Oregon staff didn't really put any effort into getting in contact with him. He opened up his recruitment a few weeks ago and had us Miami and Georgia Tech. GT was thought to be the leader, however, some are saying he just announced to LSU on facebook. Still looking for confirmation. Coach Gonzales told him he had a spot if he wanted it when he opened up his recruitment. If true, I wonder how much Avery Johnson came into play on getting him here. Could play WR as well. 6'2 190 4.46 Out of Hollywood, FL [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLn871q8mS0]YouTube - Jerrard Randall QB #17 Chaminade Madonna c/o 2011[/ame]
Visit coming next weekend. Hopefully nothing happens between then and now and if everything checks out he will sign with LSU. This is assuming LSU is willing to take him.
Academic situation may be cleared up, but he has other things like why he went to 4 different HS's in 4 years time. Once the staff clears that up and agrees he is worth taking, then he will have a committable offer . As of now he doesn't.
Why are you posting that Randall has attended multiple high schools on TD.com and here? Are you trying to insinuate something? If so, be careful about pre-judging this young man that you know nothing about or his situation. I don't think that staff would want to touch a questionable situation with what's going on with the NCAA investigation regarding Akeim Hicks' recruitment and the payment to Lyles.
The staff is going to ask many questions and I am sure this will be one of them. Standard procedure especially for recruits they didn't get a chance to get extremely close with during the recruiting year. If everything checks out, LSU could ask him to jump on board.
Only thing I am insinuating is why he currently doesn't have an offer. It's because there are a few things they need to sit down and chat about. Once they do that , then i am certain he will have his offer in hand and will sign the papers. There wasn't any judgement being passed, and I never once stated he was a problematic kid.
ESPN is reporting he is going to sign with LSU tomorrow and is on campus now. Waiting for confirmation from Scout or Rivals but likely a done deal.
Wow, it is unusual to be taking someone this late in the year. However, his film is impressive and I think our weakness at QB last year has caused an added emphasis on the position. I like him if we are taking him to play QB. He seems to have a good arm and looks accurate on the video. I don't like the idea of just taking someone as an athlete or strictly a running QB to be substituted. We can get elite power RB's with speed and better WR's. Hopefully our new OC finds a way to utilize Russell Shepard types better and get more production from them. But I do think this guy has the tools to be a legit all around QB. It would be nice if he could gain a few pounds though because a DT might break him in half if he is sacked.
