It just sucks because Thibodeaux is becoming an Auburn funnel. These kids neither go to LSU, in state schools, or somewhere out of the SEC.
As much as I wanted G-Rob at LSU and it pains me to say it but I think he made the right decision if one of his main goals was early playing time and playing time at LT. The big sell from Auburn was that La'el Collins is in his way for the big money spot. I really don't see G-Rpb as a LT well at least not yet. I always felt he would be an OG and maybe slide over to RT if needed later in his career. G-Rob is a very athletic OL which also seems to fit better in the current AU offense IMO. As for Regions he is a mauler and no question will be an interior lineman throughout his career. With LSU shifting toward a more power offense I think Regions matches a little better and he is also similar to the 2012 OL LSU is going hard after right now. Johah Austin could be another one who may get an offer. I think it would have to be one or the other between Austin and Region.
I hear this way too much. Put together who LSU has lost the past few years and tell me we wouldn't have a much better team. If we had Jackson on our team, would we lose to Arkansas this year? Dude is a great S. "Can't get them all" But it still hurts LSU anytime they lose a blue chip recruit, regardless of how big of a need it is...which I'd say Oline is a pretty big need, even with the young guys we have. They haven't exactly been a strong point the past two years. Will be saying "we didn't need him" if we lost guys like Landry/Johnson in this class? Do you think it would make a huge impact on this class? I say yes because they're impact players. Robinson is a impact player, he is a HUGE loss any way you spin it.
It is looking very likely Malazhan will leave. I think that will be huge on GRob and he might waiver. Wouldn't write him off just yet. Like I said earlier in this thread, Trooper Taylor shouldn't be underestimated. Easily one of the best recruiters in CFB. The fact he can sell AU to this kid when they will probably be on probation also amazes me... If we can't land him, I'm hoping we get Austin and pass on Region.
It's over. Write him off. Auburn will get another OC, what does Robinson care? Why he would take a chance on a school that may be headed for probation is the big question. Why pick a school that is losing a ton of people and will be rebuilding next year, when LSU is loaded and just found their quarterback? It can only be that he's thinking of his NFL future and expects to get quicker playing time and less competition on the line than he would get at LSU, as BHelm says. He's afraid that Collins is better than he is and he wouldn't get the NFL attention that he seeks.
Well, LSU actually has a lot in their favor to sway him back. A guy on TD who is on LSU's medical staff says it is far from over. Do I think he'll come back to the light? Probably not. But I'm not losing hope. He and Collins would solidify our line for years. I don't care who we are recruiting next year or we're in on some big O-line for next class like Nacho. It is about now, not the future. That is how you get burned in recruiting. Just like LSU passed on Michael and then lost out on Seastrunk the next year. I hate it when we lose a blue chip recruit and in threads you read, "well next year we'll land so and so" when we don't. LSU just needs to stay on him. AU will likely lose Malazhan, family is pushing him to LSU, possible NCAA sanctions and AU will be a very VERY different team next year. They likely will be rebuilding because they literally have no QB or defense.
Figure Robinson thread good place to put this Auburn up date.Federal Trial starts in April of several individuals with ties to the Auburn program .FBI was doing Wire Taps on their phones involving kick back schems for State Contracts. This will take several months to play out before we discover if the "friends of the program" were involued in illegal payments to players. This would explain news media reports last month reporting FBI interest in the Cam Newton pay to play allegation.
