Per Jeff Duncan: Loomis said as soon as they picked Jordan they discussed "how can we get Mark Ingram?" "we're excited about it." Loomis: it's hard to give up any future pick. You've got to feel real good about the pick you're making....Obviously we do." "Part of this is obvious, with Drew we have a window of opportunity and we want to do everything we can to take advantage of this window." Loomis said he would consider trying to move up tomorrow and recoup the 2nd round pick but said it would be "doubtful" they could pull it off. Loomis said that the Saints made an attempt to trade up a few spots to take either Jordan or Ingram and couldn't pull it off. Loomis said the selection of Inghram would not affect the team's interest in keeping Reggie Bush. "We like all of our running backs."
I love it. The Saints are built to win now. Ingram is not a project; he will help immediately at a position of need. He will put the ball in the endzone, does not fumble, and has the capability of being a complete, every down back. Future draft picks are potentials. Ingram is now, and helps win a championship now. They can recoup that pick somehow. Getting Jordan and Ingram is huge and worth what the Saints gave up, imho.
Giving up the 1st round pick next year isn't a huge deal if you end up picking late in the round as they did this year. Incredible draft for the Saints.
thats right. brees aint getting no younger and the saints haven't been able to convert a 4th and 1 in 2+ years. I do see ingram as a emmitt smith type, good vision and always get in the end zone. not sold on the dude we nabbed before him.
maybe he's upset he's not the only Heisman-winning RB on the Saints, oh that's right, he had to give his back
yeah, he does seem like he has the potential to be soft. would have preferred someone with a little more of a mean streak, but the Saints have proven to be good judges of talent and character the last decade or so.
these people have Cam Jordan rated #4 DE, ahead of guys that got drafted before him like Ryan Kerrigan and Adrian Clayborn WalterFootball.com: 2011 NFL Draft: Defensive End Rankings
we'll see. im pretty sure my 20 second evaluation on a quick highlight then judging him by his demeanor in about 5 seconds is much more accurate.
