I've seen MJ play and he is pretty dominant. The one thing that concerns me is hes not a very tall DT. He may have grown since I last seen him but he couldn't be 6 ft when I saw him... That is good for leverage, which he does a great job of playing with but terrible on a 300lb frame. Guys that short and that big have some injury problems, especially legs. I always felt Dorsey was too big for his frame. I've heard MJ is definitely over 6 ft now but I'm going to go see him again this Fall. Haven't decided which game I'm going to watch him at yet though. To the guy above saying are we going to get a DT to pan out, its one of the hardest positions to evaluate in both college and NFL. It was one of the highest bust % in the NFL draft.
Maybe it's just me, but he looks at little bit high in his highlights. He seems to be getting away with sheer power and quickness to beat these HS guards, but he seems to stand straight up out of his three-point stance. Either way, I do like him, as that can easily be fixed by coaching.
He hasn't had any updates since his last visit to us and I take that as a good sign since he talked to different writers from a bunch of schools before that. I hear he is even recruiting for LSU a little. LSU is in the driver's seat.
Here is an article with some quotes from his coach. Says he is at 315lbs right now. Also not mentioned in the article is that we have to keep an eye on his grades now. Needs to increase his GPA and ACT score. TigerRag - RECRUITING UPDATE: Mickey Johnson
Great visit last weekend and he has seemed to calm the naming of new leaders down a bit. LSU is the likely destination and the only way I see him not ending up in this class is if he waits too long and someone like Jernigan and other surprises jump on board. Numbers are tight and he has some academic stuff to work on.
