I hear there are some rumors going around. Mike S on rivals is saying he is leaning to leave the state but better sources on Scout and other boards are saying LSU is looking good right now. I have to lean toward the Scout sources given the history but a lot can happen between now and when he decides.
Based on his most recent Scot article today it looks like there are a lot of people coming to conclusions that shouldn't. Mickey keeps it close to the vest and doesn't really talk to anybody about where he is leaning, etc... but it looks good for LSU.
Top 5 are LSU, Nebraska, UCLA, Tenn, and Michigan. Still keeping it close to the vest while having a little fun with the process. I think it could come down to his current home team vs his old home UCLA.
Rumor alert !! Please file this under the hearsay/rumor mill category because that's all this is. I talked to a St Paul's football player and casually asked about what's up with Mickey Johnson and who were his favorites. The kid told me that he talked to Mickey the other night and he said, as of then, he really liked UCLA and Nebraska. I wouldn't think that this means LSU is out of it, but as far as out of town schools go, these two may have more of an inside track than some of the others. I told the kid that if I went out of state, I'd probably want to go somewhere where there were mountains or beaches. I sure wouldn't want to go to a dirty crime filled city like LA...heck that's why I moved across the lake from New Orleans. I went to school in Oklahoma so I imagine Nebraska isn't filled with excitement either.
He actually listed LSU 5th on his list on facebook but when Freak started talking to him about LSU and another prospect he started saying how they would be dominant on the line together. I think he is playing around a little and may like the idea of leaving right now. But as NSD approaches it gets harder and harder to leave especially with the opportunity he has at LSU. I still think LSU will end up in the top 2 or 3 at the end but wouldn't be shocked if he left the state.
LSU is his new #1 after the camp. I know he had a great time and already talking about The Fam and chilling with Shep between practices.
So is this going to be yet another promising DT at LSU that doesn't pan out? It's getting to be a bit aggravating after being so spoiled with Booger McFarland, Kyle Williams, Claude Wroten, Chad Lavalais, Glenn Dorsey, etc.
Time will tell but this guy is stronger than all of those DTs coming out of HS. He and Freak are going to be hard to block.
