One of the top DTs in the state from St. Paul's High School was offered at Junior Day and could be close to committing.

    6'0
    297
    5.1

Hols offers from Miss St., Tulsa, Tulane, Tenn, Ole Miss, and Kansas St. He plans on camping at LSU this summer as well. Looks a little faster than 5.13 and closer to 6'1 based on his Junior film.

6-0 seems little short to hang 300 pounds on, but he does look aggressive.

Dude is strong. He'll be benching near 500 by the time he graduates highschool.

I thought I read somewhere today that he said he benched that during his last meet.

Definitely the next workout warrior of the team if he commits.

I saw a video of him benching 500 with 2 boards, but someone mentioned that he was over 450..

Not much to add or much to worry about, but I have two local high school kids working with me in the kitchen on weekends. One is a senior at St Paul's and another is a senior at Fontainebleu High School who's a tight end on the football team.

Both know Mickey Johnson and I'm going to try to find out some insight on what he's thinking. This stuff should fall under the "rumors" or "gee whiz" category and definitely not under the "Gospel Truth" category...But it should be interesting at least.

I asked both of them about Mickey and the classmate from St. Paul's said that Mickey used to play trombone in the band with him freshman year and was a little surprised LSU would be after him. I told the kid that it really must be hard to imagine that someone from the band could power lift nearly 500 lbs. Johnson must have stood out in the band.

The other kid who knows Mickey from football said that Mickey told one of his team mates that he was interested in Florida right now. This kid was swearing that Johnson would be a gator. Maybe Urban Meyer had another one of those revelations from God about that..

I'll try to keep up on the word on the street concerning Johnson, but I wouldn't put a lot of faith in it.

(Now watch how fast posters on Tigerdroppings are gonna proclaim Johnson to be a Florida lock or lean)

Speaking of St. Paul's band...I sure wish they would change those ugly silly ass uniforms. They are awful! What makes it worse is when they attempt to dance while playing. I always get a good laugh at St. Paul's when they march in Mardi Gras parades. They think they have a good band...NOT! :hihi:

    Good stuff Steve...

I have been getting the feeling he was going to play it out some to see who comes in with offers and maybe get some trips in before committing. LSU can handle that no problem this year with 4-5 top DTs in the state of LA. Last on the boat will be left out. If I was a DT and I knew I would end up at LSU in the end I would go ahead and get it over with knowing that I am relatively easy to replace.

This actually shows you what these offers mean to many of the recruits and their friends. They are like trading card fads for high schoolers. Some embellish, etc... Friends think they have the inside scoop and raid the boards with info that is not very solid and so forth.

I wil be interested to see what else you hear.

It's just pretty slow here on the TF recruiting thread. I read the board at TD pretty often and there are a lot of good posters there. StreetDiction, 985, and a few others that post here. They also have a lot of knowledgeable people over there as well that don't pass by here posting.

I wasn't trying to disparage any of their posters there with my comment about seeing how fast some of them would proclaim Johnson a Fla. lock...it's just that some of them over there seem to read stuff on other sites and then race to be the first to post the info as their original thought.

Those posters are just trying to keep up with the latest and are really good LSU fans, but since I went to grad school, I cringe when people don't credit the original source. In college, that's plagiarism and is dishonest. I have to keep in mind that it's not that dishonest because it's just discussion about football...not research. There's a lot of good insight over there...a lot of rival posters too. The tone does get "Ranty" a lot though.
