This is why they don't get rid of the Bowls: Bowl Payouts Compass $900,000.00 SEC [Pitt vs Ken] Music City $1,600,000.00 [Tenn. Vs. UNC] Liberty $1,700,000.00 [UGA vs UCF] Chic-fil-A $2,400,000.00 SEC[FSU vs USC] Outback $3,100,000.00 [UF vs Penn ST.] Cap One $4,250,000.00 [MSU vs ALA] Gator $2,750,000.00 [UM Vs MSU] Cotton $3,580,000.00 [LSU vs T a&m] Sugar$17,000,000.00 [Ark vs OSU] BCS Champ$17,000,000.00 [AU vs Oreg.] Total $54,280,000.00 These are total payouts I found, so I am assuming each team splits the purse. 10 of the 12 teams in the SEC are playing for $$$$$$ starting in a couple weeks. Gotta love the talent pool in the south.:thumb:
Good article in the Advocate to generate even more interest in the game. 2theadvocate.com | Sports | Big stage set for Tigers-Aggies in Cotton Bowl — Baton Rouge, LA
So then Vandy is like the perennial rent-a-win team for all the SEC schools they play every year? I guess the only difference is they have to wait until after Bowl season is over to get paid....
The LSU Alumni Organizations in Dallas and Fort Worth have teamed together to provide a number of activities for the Cotton Bowl, including an all day tailgate. The tailgate starts at 8:00 am with a live broadcast of the "The Press Box Show with Jimmy Ott" on 1210 The Score and will continue with an LSU DJ through out the day. Visit LSU Alumni Dallas - Home or LSU Alumni - Tarrant Tigers for more info on this, parking, and much more!
LSU has a great opportunity ahead. If we beat Texas A&M and then defeat Oregon to start next season, we'll have more wins in that stadium than the Dallas Cowboys. :hihi:
Recruits will be watching. Aledo, Denton Ryan, Denton Guyer, and Trinity all played for 4A/5A State Championships this past weekend. Lots of good players graduating and many come back as they were only juniors. Jonathan Gray from Aledo with something like 8 TD's and over 300 yards rushing in title game, is something to see. Think he ended year with 60 TD's and has over 130 for career................he is a junior!!!
Dude Jonathan Gray killed in that Aledo La Marque game, he had 4 td's before halftime. Also Tim Wright was a stud for La Marque.
As a grad living in Houston, I'm surrounded by A & M people including my bosses wife and my next door neighbor. I'm giving them all hell. I wear the colors every where I go as should every fan living inTexas. I would love to see Lee stick it to them when he gets his 10 snaps since he grew up just down Texas 50 from College Station. Brenham's a stone's throw away. BTW, did anyone see Matt Flynn (LSU's last great SMART QB) on Monday. He lit up the Pats. One really bad throw but in his first start.... He needs to be in Houston playing for the Texans, or better yet, in Cleveland!
Did you notice that Jonathan Gray stats for the season almost exceeded 2 of the 3 USA Today first teamers by himself and he wasnt even mentioned?
What scares me about this game is that a&m are damn glad to be there. I hope lsu isn't stuck on what could have been with an ark victory. If the tigers come out flat it will be a long game. If we play like we did aginst the sabanblowers then we win easly but if we play like we did aginst tenn well it will be tough to win. A&m has homefield adv also. Hope the tigers play like they want to be there instead of thinking their stuck in a shiz bowl instead of a bcs bowl
