Well, Reed came in and the coaches gave him a lot to think about. They showed him stats that compare how Auburn uses WRs in their offensive scheme vs how LSU does.Reed has officially visited both campuses. Now he should now have all the information he needs to make a very important decision...and he should make it very soon for two good reasons: 1) We have very few slots left, especially if Fobbs switches allegiance to LSU, and time is running out here on this end...Boone's coming in next week for his official visit. 2) He should have enough consideration for both AU and LSU to let them both know where he'll enroll early enough so that one of them can move on...whether or not the decision is made publicly. I kind of expect his decision one way or another very soon because he seems to be a kid with high moral character...and a recruit with good character should make a strong, decisive choice promptly.
Very good visit from what I hear. We still have the in-home visits this week. AU will be in his house tonight and Wilson and Gonzales will be there sometime this week. I still assume that if any change is made it will be NSD because he really is struggling with his decision and both schools will accept him regardless of who is on board or not.
Crazy question here, but does anyone think that the Saints winning and bringing Louisiana a feeling of togetherness could possibly help Reed come to LSU because of state pride? Ha, I know i'm reaching, but if we get Reed we get Seastrunk. That's two game changers that could be deadly with our future OC Billy Gonzales offense. Maybe, just maybe, even under Crowton's. :hihi:
It's not totally out of the realm of possibility. Interesting thought .... :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
you piqued my curiosity, so I found the following stats for comparison (source: secsports.com) for the regular season: AU, LSU PASSING YARDAGE 2622 2161 Comp-Att-Int 198-331-7, 185-312-7 Average Per Pass 7.9, 6.9 Average Per Catch 13.2, 11.7 Average Per Game 218.5, 180.1 TDs Passing 24, 18 RECEIVING GP No. Yards Avg TD Long Avg/G Darvin Adams 12 48 855 17.8 10 72 71.2 Mario Fannin 12 39 403 10.3 3 82 33.6 Terrell Zachery 12 24 466 19.4 5 93 38.8 Ben Tate 12 20 105 5.2 0 19 8.8 D. They might have showed him where Auburn passed a much bigger percentage to RBs and TEs compared to WRs. Where as LSU mainly threw to their Wide outs.
The fact LSU is sending another WR in the 1st-2nd round should be a indicator enough that LSU throws enough to their WRs...in a list of already stockpiled receivers from LSU the past 8 years. I'm sure Trooper is filling his head with some stupid stuff that is false. Who the heck has Auburn put in the NFL the past 8 years at WR? LSU probably has more highly drafted WRs than any other school the past 8 years.
Respectfully, .... I'm certain that Auburn could make a similar NFL argument when it comes to running backs, but it would be a moot point since both programs have different staffs today than they did 8 years ago. It's more likely that Reed looks at Malzahn and Crowton and sees similar approaches from an offensive perspective .... and similar results if the stats above are indicative. My point is that the two schemes were/are similar in terms of output and distribution, so I'll speculate that it may be other attributes that a prospect like Reed will use to reach his final decision. Good luck, and may Reed reach a decision that is best for himself. :thumb:
