Again, Reed is not as crappy as you think. LSU wanted him this whole time and was pushing him hard the whole time to come here. He is that good.
I never said or even insinuated he was crappy. Far from it. He's been a top priority guy for us the whole time and we've been extremely excited about him. But I also know how hard it is to get kids to go out of state, especially in places like LA or Arkansas where there's only one major D-1A program that dominates the discussion in their borders. There's a ton of pressure to be loyal to State U. At the same time, the outward perception was that after Reed made his commit to AU and given who you already had committed at WR, that LSU sort of focused on other targets more. Now that you've had a couple of guys decommitt at that position, there seems to be a renewed and more intense push for Reed. That's all I was trying to say.
By thinking that Reed was a top priority guy for Auburn, but not for LSU, that makes you look like you think Reed is second-class. Okay sure, you're excited to get him... but not that excited being that you think LSU didn't want him that much. Reed has always been a top-priority guy for LSU, and became even more of a top priority once he committed to Auburn, our division rival that we play every single year. Yeah, we had Davis of Texas and Hunter of Virginia as well, but we knew both were unstable commits for a good while, which made Reed even more of a top priority for LSU. This isn't new. He has always been a top-priority guy for LSU. You should be very proud of him if he ends up at Auburn. He's not second-rate. Even that article you just posted said: Reed is generally considered Louisiana's top prospect and is a five-star recruit, according to Scout.com ratings Reed, who played quarterback at Thibodaux High School, is an elusive runner in the mold of LSU freshman Russell Shepard. Thibodaux Coach Dennis Lorio said he compares favorably to former Tigers standout Eddie Kennison but with "better hands." "He's the most talented player I've ever coached, " Lorio said. "His escapability is a gift from God. He has great vision. Sometimes it seems like he can see behind himself."
You're reading far too much into this. I know you guys wanted him, but as I said, the outward perception was that you sort of backed off and weren't going after him as hard after he made his public commit to Auburn. Now it appears that you're stepping up your efforts in ways you weren't previously doing. Ok. Wonderful. I know he's not second-rate. You're the only person putting that notion out there. I'm sure you're right and that you never gave up on him or lessened your recruiting push for him. That's not how it has seemed on the outside. It seemed like you guys of course were still interested, but you'd moved on. Now suddenly (again, perception) the full court press is on after you lost a WR commit. That's all I was trying to say. But go ahead and somehow twist this one more time into some insinuation that I think he's second-rate. Don't bother letting a silly thing like a repeated explanation slow you down. :rolleye33:
Give it a rest, Titan never said or implied Reed was 2nd rate or even close to that. McCarthy dropped the ball around the Spring when Reed expected to receive visits and he never showed. So Titan is right in a sense. Since then LSU has increased their role in recruiting Reed in the last few months and have his ear. Auburn is the stronghold for his signature and LSU is doing a great job of giving him something to think about.
So our WR coach DJ McCarthy gets in the student newspaper for alleging paying a recruit (who we kicked from the team now), and he also doesn't show up to expected visits with one of our highest-priority recruits? McCarthy sounds like public enemy #1. Good thing we fired his azz from his $200,000-a-year job. DJ McCarthy
Dont bother Titan. You're responding to opinions and positions that are not shared by 99.9% of the people on this board.
 Titan, BHelm, and I all agree that LSU never gave up on Reed or lessened our recruiting push for him... as for you?
