I get what you're saying and recruits do lie a lot but not all of them. Davis had that kind of attitude if you watched him in interviews...he seemed like a me guy. Reed doesn't come off like that at all. It could be hes doing it out of courtesy to Wilson or maybe his coach. Sometimes recruits do this just to shut their recruiters up and give them something to think about. Who knows maybe he'll get impressed. I don't think its going to happen though...hes been to LSU plenty of times, I can't see anything swaying him that he hasn't already seen at LSU. Unless...hes just lying and plans to commit to LSU. We can certainly pitch playing time now. Despite LSU's so called "lack of development" under Miles...we still have the recent tradition of throwing a lot of WRs in the draft as high picks. Lafell is expected to be a 1st rounder or 2nd at the latest. What has AU put in the draft at receiver the past 8 years? I don't think anyone has put as many high picks as LSU in.
I am not saying he is switching just pointing out that things change and they will be called liars because of it. I would think one visit in December would have been enough to please the LSU staff but a 2nd means he is at least has some interest even though he says he is solid to AU. 2 visits in a one month span means something even though it may not mean a switch in commitments. He has seem LSU many times but only once so far with the new coaches in place. McCarthy and Porter dropped the ball big time from what I hear so this could be a completely different visit in his eyes.
How many times have recruits that are solid to another program cancaled their final visit the weekend following a visit to said solid program?? I'll believe it when he is on campus.
Me too. Trovon Reed will visit Auburn over the weekend Four-star wide receiver Trovon Reed says a planned official visit to LSU will have no impact on his commitment to Auburn. His decision, he says, is made and will not be changed. “They are cool, but I tell them they have to respect my decision,” Reed said. “I am solid to Auburn." Reed, from Thibodaux (La.) High School, will take his official visit to Auburn over the coming weekend and LSU a week later. He acknowledges he has felt increasing pressure in his home state. But he says he's not wavering on the commitment he made in November. Reed said he wants his decision to be accepted and respected. “You don't see the people in the state of Alabama making a big deal when guys go to LSU,” he said. Reed said he looks forward to spending the weekend visiting Auburn's coaches and his future teammates. “I am ready to have some fun,” he said. “I just want to hang out with the other commitments and recruits that will be there and hang out with the players.” Reed played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio last Saturday. He said he did his best to recruit defensive tackle Jeffrey Whitaker and running back Marcus Lattimiore. Whitaker alos be in Auburn for an official visit over the weekend. “I was just telling them how great it is at Auburn,” Reed said. “Before this year, I never would have thought I would commit to Auburn. But they have a great coaching staff there, great facilities, great campus, great everything, and I have just made it my home.” Reed has made numerous trips to Auburn. He said he felt like a member of the family every time. “I am just telling these guys that you just don't know what Auburn is like until you have spent some quality time with the coaches,” Reed said. “I did that, and I am happy now.” Reed said the Auburn coaching staff has not only given him a sense of family, they have given him inspiration, especially head coach Gene Chizik, offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn and wide receivers coach Trooper Taylor. “I love those guys,” Reed said. “My relationship is very strong with all the coaches, especially Coach Chizik, Coach Malzahn and Coach Troop. I look up to those guys. I want to be a coach someday, and I just hope I can be like them.”
Sounds like we can turn the porch light off on Reed. Which is fine, I respect a kid who wants something different in life. I did. Just hope he doesnt do his "Auburn is awesome" to the recruits who are at LSU when they are there. I hope he "respects" that aspect of it.
Sorry for quoting this large post (good info by the way), but I can't help but think why would we bring him in for a visit after saying this kind of stuff. After reading this, I would be concerned with him trying to sway our recruits/commits to Auburn. :geaux:
Wasnt really counting on him to be in our class. He has been set on Auburn for a long time now. Im not going to diminish his talent, but I wouldnt call him a need with what we have coming in 2011. At best he would redshirt at LSU in 2010 if he was in this class and he wants to play right away. Respect for doing whats right for him.
