Reed came into Baton Rouge last night and went out with Lache. He was at practice this morning and coming back later this afternoon after a track meet. He is visiting along with Maclin, Cobbs, Lindsay, and Jeffcoat.
I hear that Texas decided to back off Trovon because the WR position is filling up and Mack Brown considered him a long shot. Just one less thing to worry about because if true it would be very hard for Texas to make a late run for him if they change their mind.
All of the above plus he talked very highly of LSU and following them closely growing up. Also about the great LSU fans and Tiger Stadium, etc... LSU is his team like all of us. However, I would not call him a lock for one reason alone. Kind of a sore subject but the loss of his mom could steer him in another direction. He was very close to her and I know some would feel this is the time to get away from the pain and become his own man. A fresh start could cross his mind. LSU is in the lead, no doubt but anything can happen especially with a kid with so many options. I would say 95% he ends up a LSU Tiger.
A guy that posts on TD, that is close to him, claims he thinks Reed is leaning out of state. Oregon, Missouri and Oklahoma is the three he said hes leaning to. Interesting but a long way to go. I'm wondering if LSU's depth is starting to get to him, especially with all the WRs committed here right now.
I have been hinting that OOS could be his destination for a while now. When his mom passed, thoughts about getting away from home came into the picture. Before she passed, he was a lock to stay in-state to be with her while she was ill. I think he will entertain OOS schools stronger than before down the stretch but LSU will be in the top 2 closer to NSD. That is usually the trend with top prospects. Leaving home gets harder and harder as signing day approaches. Watch out for OU and Mizzou. He will think about USC as well but in the end I think that will be too far for his liking. Don't shoot me, I am just passing tidbits I have been hearing for some time now.
