In case you missed it, when people talk about winning around here, they are not talking about a winning 7 or 8 games. They're talking about competing for SEC and National Championships. To think Auburn will be doing that anytime soon is a bit far fetched considering the competition in the SEC West. Especially when they don't have anything resembling a QB who will be able to pass consistently in that system after the season is over. That being said, the kid probably wants early playing time and wants to be the number 1 or number 2 guy. As I understand it, he would fit more as a slot guy here and next year would be behind TT and RR for sure, if not more than that. Anyway you look at it, he has his reasons, and if he chooses Auburn, then at least he is doing it the right way by not stringing LSU along knowing he doesn't really want to go to LSU.
Auburn actually signed two Qb's last year one of which was the highly touted Tyrick Rollison from Sulpher Springs Texas. He was ranked number 60 overall on the Rivals 100 and was a 4 star recruit. They also signed Clint Mosely who was a 3 star recruit and was named Alabama's Mr. Football by the states sports writers, capturing the title over more highly touted recruits such as Dre Kirkpatrick, Kendall Kelly, and Tana Patrick. He was a QB at a 2A school and therefore most schools didn't think he had faced strong enough competition to offer him a scholarship. As for Reed I think if he chooses to go to Auburn it is because of his relationship with Trooper Taylor and his desire to get out on his own away from home. I have heard he has developed a pretty good relationship with Michael Dyer since they both visited Auburn on the same weekend. The bottom line is these kids have to make the right decision for themselves and no matter if he chooses Oregon, Auburn or LSU we all need to wish him well on his endeavors. He has handled himself with class in the spotlight of the modern day recruiting environment and he seems to have a good head on his shoulders. Good luck Mr. Reed where ever you choose to go.
I don't like losing the good ones to out of state schools. However, I'm sure he looked long and hard, and I'm sure he feels Auburn is the best for him at this point in time. I'm ok with that. I'd rather him do it now instead of signing day. Best of luck to him. :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
How the hell can you commit to a school with no QB now or in the future at a college that probably wont have the same coaches for the next 2 years??? And gets blasted by your home State school?? At least go to a college like Oregon, or USC, or Miami....damn really? wow that makes no sense, even with all the early playing time and whatever else drew him there...still very bad move on his part.
Tyrik Rollinson is a pretty darn good QB they have waiting in the wings. FWIW Auburn appears to be headed in the right direction, take off the P&G shades :thumb: Rollinson was second only to Shepard, and he is something Shepard is not.. a real QB.
lets be honest here, Rollinson isn't even close to the Ath Rusty is. His arm cant make up that gap, even if he was Jamarcus strong.
