I realize this was posted a couple of weeks ago, but what exactly is the source behind this story? If it had been particularly reputable, I assume that it would have been a much bigger story. The more I follow recruiting, the more I hear diametrically opposite things about recruits and where they are leaning.
People like this don't post on recruiting just to let us know their opinion...they are really talking to the recruit, thinking they'll read this type of BS. This guy is telling Trovon that Dyer is a commit to Auburn so that Trovon Reed will be more likely to go to AU. It's a shame that someone would just lie like that to a recruit. I'm sure the recruits recognize that kind of stuff and pay no attention to it. In the end they'll make their decision based on what's best for them with regards to academics, coaching, early playing time, etc. If Reed is considering what school will give him a chance to be drafted high by the NFL...he'll pick LSU. We have a great track record over the last 15-20 years...He even has a namesake who's tearing things up as we speak!
Well, LSU is the no brainer in putting receivers in the NFL. Has any college produced more the past 8 years? Michael Clayton-1st Round Craig Davis-1st Round Dwayne Bowe-1st Round Devery Henderson-2nd Round Josh Reed-2nd Round Skyler Green-4th Round Early Doucet-3rd Round Lafell is the #1 senior WR prospect right now and has 5 TDs already on a mediocre offense TT will likely be a first rounder by the time he leaves too... I missed a few in there, like Bennie I think. Just making a point. Now list what Auburn has produced at WR the past 8 years...
Wide receiver Trovon Reed (Thibodeaux, La./Thibodeaux) will sign with Auburn. The word in Louisiana on Reed is that it’s a battle of Tigers between Auburn and LSU and that the fans that yell “War Eagle” will be happier than the fans that yell “Geaux Tigers” on national signing day. It’s not like Louisiana isn’t loaded with receivers in the next recruiting cycle (Jarvis Landry comes to mind), so LSU will be fine. It could be a huge pickup for Auburn, though, given the need for playmakers in the passing game. That’s one of ESPN guru J.C. I have my doubts that this will happen though and if does announce something on this day it won't mean too much because he plans on taking officials to LSU, Auburn, and Tenn.
That sounds like good news for us! Living in Thibodaux, it would be insane for him to announce going anywhere other than LSU before NSD. The locals (including students) are a bit rabid when it comes to LSU fandom. I know I wouldn't announce going to AU before NSD if I still lived in Thibodaux and I am not much of a recruit.
