Re: Mike Davis Decommits from LSU I don't think that's the case at all. I think there's always a question on the LSU side whether or not a kid at the 2A level is going to translate into an SEC caliber player. Byron Dawson, a former Tiger and ECA Eagle is on the coaching staff there so I don't think there's necessarily any steering elsewhere going on. Off the top of my head, here's a list of ECA Eagles who've played at LSU: Josh Booty, Abram Booty, Bubba Alexander, Robert Davis, Byron Dawson, Jacob Hester, Phillip Maxwell, Chase Pittman. Some LSU has missed out on: Steve Lee (UT), Phillip Geiggar (UT), Cole Pittman (UT), Keyunta Dawson (TT), Brock Berlin (UF & UM).
Re: Mike Davis Decommits from LSU :geaux: Fair enough. Just thought it was strange that we didn't have more players from up there. :LSU231:
Re: Mike Davis Decommits from LSU I forgot to add my two cents about decommits this year. Decommits happen all the time but we all should've expected this after the Ole Miss debacle. Losing that game was bad enough but the way it ended on national TV brought embarrassment to the program and the school. Les Miles and his staff were berated the entire week on pretty much every national sports talk show as well as by most nationally syndicated sports columnists. That debacle did more to harm recruiting than anything imo. Not only was that debacle going to be used by other school's recruiters but by a player like Davis' friends and teammates. You could just hear them say - "Dude, you're gonna go to LSU and play for those morons? They can't even manage a game, how are they going to manage your career and get you to the NFL?" I believe it's just the beginning of the fallout from some a huge gaffe.
Re: Mike Davis Decommits from LSU LSU just picked up a top RB from FL & a top RB from LA, along with a tremendous punter after the gaffe. Also, 2 new position coaches & top recruiters. Football players make mistakes too, and they sure don't want to hear about it a month later. I think if coaches start trying to do the negative thing, the recruits LSU is interested in will tune them out.
Re: Mike Davis Decommits from LSU This is a little over the top. Davis was not offered by Texas until this weekend. The home school came calling and he wanted in. Simple as that. Read updates from prospects about the OM game and you will see it affects fans way more than prospects. Decommits are expected regardless. As for Eric Thomas, the staff has been keeping tabs on him and it is a possibility if other options fall through. Another to keep an eye on is Glen Coleman who the staff likes a little better from what I have heard.
Re: Mike Davis Decommits from LSU Sucks to lose a 5 star guy, but oh well. Sh!t happens and you move on. Plenty of other horses in the stable.
Re: Mike Davis Decommits from LSU i thought robert davis was from AL. the RB, right? is there another robert davis?
Re: Mike Davis Decommits from LSU Did you watch the end of the UT-Nebraska game? Mack Brown = dumb clock management, almost cost UT a shot at the nat. championship game, #2 playing against #17 almost lost it. Of all the reasons Davis may have decommitted, poor clock management is NOT on the list.
