has it occurred to you that maybe the nfl evaluators see things in these players in spite of crowtons influence? they were great players coming out of high school. gary crowton did not "make" these players, nor does it appear he is developing their talents. i'm sorry, with multiple 5* receivers and running backs on the field at the same time and to be almost at rock bottom nationally on offense does not reflect positively on any coach overseeing that offense. throw in there a head coach who, at the beginning of the year, stated this was the best offensive line he's had and it becomes even more troubling. the offensive line was terrible, yet we still have one lineman who will probably be a 1st round draft choice and a few others who will be drafted in the upcoming years. It's a players time while playing for LSU that most fans take most pride in. It's nice to see them do well as pros but it still doesn't necessarily make a tiger fan change their alligence from the saints to say, the cowboys (bradie james and marcus spears). besides, i have to shudder when thinking how we'll rank by getting rid of some of the "easy" opponents and replace them with unc and uwv without different play callers.
Become first round picks. Other than that not much, although Meachem has had a pretty good season and shows potential.
Stallworth ran over a guy and not on the field, dont forget about that. Just think if he could drive while playing, he would be all pro.
Which CB did we pull/lose just before the game started? Georgia noticed and burned us deep twice due to the injury. That was the difference.
With that logic every 4-5* player would be getting invites to the combines, which simply doesn't happen. Like it or not there is obviously some positive influence that our system is having on these players. HS talent doesn't translate into NFL calibur until it has been coached to get close to that level. As I have said several times, not defending GC, just that under his and LSU's system players continue to be looked at by the NFL more than UT.
none that i remember. maybe a nickelback. i was wrong. reggie brown was big in the 04 loss at UGA. bailey was big in the SECCG in 05
LaFell was a 3-star, not a 5-star. As a recruit, he was ranked the #32 and #34 WR of the 2005 class by Rivals.com and Scout.com. Now, after a spectacular career at LSU (the #1 LSU receiver for three straight seasons under Crowton), he is ranked a lot higher than the #32/#34 WR for the 2010 Draft. I don't know where you've been, but I've taken a lot of pride in watching LaFell these last three seasons at LSU under Crowton. As for Ciron Black, he was also a 3-star. He was ranked the #31 OL and the #12 OG of the 2005 class by Scout and Rivals. After a spectacular career at LSU, he is now ranked a lot higher than that for the 2010 Draft.
