His scholarship list is very impressive...

#1 Alabama (SEC), #17 LSU (SEC), Tennessee (SEC), Petrino's Arkansas (SEC), Mullen's Miss State (SEC), #14 Nebraska (Big XII), #21 Texas Tech (Big XII), Colorado (Big XII), Stanford (Pac Ten), Minnesota (Big Ten), Northwestern (Big Ten), Virginia (ACC), #6 TCU (Mountain West), #18 Utah (Mountain West), La Tech (WAC), SMU (C-USA), Southern Miss (C-USA), Tulane (C-USA), Tulsa (C-USA), UCF (C-USA), ULM (Sun Belt).

(he got offers from six teams that finished in the Top 25, including the national champs Alabama--he also got an offer from Tennessee, who cracked the Top 25 for twenty-four consecutive seasons from 1985 to 2008 and whose recruiting class is currently ranked #7 by Rivals--and from Jim Harbaugh's Stanford, who finished the regular season at #19 before losing their bowl game to Oklahoma and whose recruiting class is currently ranked #15 by Rivals)

As for why Wright, who is a Rivals 4-star now, was under-the-radar before that (and still might be to a degree), here are three reasons:

1--From everything I read, Wright somewhat blew-off the overall recruiting process (not giving very many interviews, not going to too many camps, etc). Why? Texas Tech, Alabama, LSU, and Tennessee went after him early on, and he was satisfied with having those offers (who wouldn't be?). Originally, he was a Texas Tech lean (he wanted to play in the explosive Mike Leach offense like guys like Michael Crabtree, who was also a 4-star recruit). Then, after Leach got fired on Dec. 28, 2009, his top three were Bama (reigning national champions), LSU, and Tenn (Tenn is known as "WR U" because of their long history of putting WRs in the Draft). Based on multiple quotes, he honestly had no favorite between the three. In fact, based on two sources (which I can show you), his favorite team is Southern Cal (*fingers crossed that Southern Cal doesn't give him an offer and steal him from us before NSD*... or that they haven't already and he is a silent commit to USC like Lache was without anybody knowing).

2--Another reason he somewhat blew-off the overall recruiting process is because he is a very busy guy. He is the star of both his high school track team (first State Champion in school history) and basketball team (1st Team All District since he was a freshman, 1st Team All-Metro New Orleans since he was a sophomore), in addition to being the star of his high school football team (two-time All-State--as a junior and a senior). On top of all that, he has a 3.4 cum GPA and a 3.7 core GPA--and he took at least one honors class (science) and he keeps talking about how he wants to pursue pharmacy so it's not like he is just taking remedial courses.

    Like these quotes said:

Wright's recruitment was slow to develop because of his decision to play basketball

A quiet sort, Wright indicates the recruiting process has gotten tiresome. "When you first start getting letters, it's fun and exciting, " he said. "As it goes on it can get a little crazy. I'm not going to say I don't like it because I'm happy being recruited. It's a lot of calls and letters, and you're trying to focus on your school, social life and athletics. I just want to enjoy my senior year of high school.

Belle Chasse Coach Bob Becnel said Wright is uncommonly mature for a high school senior

    etc

3--Finally, Wright's high school football coach is a Tulane grad (that played football for Tulane) that didn't hype Wright as much as 4-star Trovon Reed's high school football coach (an ex-LSU coach and LSU fan) did by telling the media: "Reed is the next Eddie Kennison, Reed is the next Eddie Kennison"... and Wright did have an offer to Tulane.

Very interesting, some of those points I had already figured as to why. I've been saying it since recruiting started...they have underrating him bad on Rivals/Scout and was a beast. I honestly think he softened the blow of Hunter/Davis. Maybe not both but any single one, hes almost as good. LSU was recruiting him hard even when they committed. Hes going to be a great WR for us and if any gets PT their Freshman year, it will be him, IMO.

Thought I would post some videos again now that we know who the commits are for the most part. Can't find his senior video yet.
