Depth can never hurt. Alot of our 'safeties' are going to end up at either OLB or CB depending on how they grow.
Chavis likes smaller LBs with speed and HS safeties transition to LB fairly easily and many are in the mold he is looking for. There is also a demand in college football for defenses that can defend the spread. LBs that can float around the line and drop back into coverage to defend the pass are valuable against speedy spread offenses.
