If we turned him away because of Lattimore/Dyer/Seastrunk.. that would mean we feel very good about our chances. I still think Storm ends up a Tiger.

No way. We get one if not both IMO.

We really need 2 good backs. Storm and Lache would be a great backfield. But Storm has an advantage....he comes in January. Maybe that fact puts fear in other backs who may not want to enter behind him.

so, are you suggesting that the delay in his commitment is to entice Lache to commit first, then SJ will commit?

I think coaching changes, grades and injuries are scenarios where an athlete should be released from an early LOI. But there's one more category to add to the mix:

Scandal, or NCAA sanctions ( I forgot about Kiffen/Tennessee :hihi:).

Bandit, you're right about leaving NSD where it is...after Christmas holidays. I just think it ought to be called "last chance to sign anywhere date". you see, if kids want to wait...cool. I'm all for it. I just think they ought to be able to sign up on the dotted line if they want to. If a kid were able to do this anytime during the year, there'd be less chance of situations like we had last year...specifically the Janzen Jackson scam and the DeAngelo Benton/Mr. Randle BS. It's a lot more than the stupid hat trick show. It's crazy making kids and the schools have to wait if neither one wants to.

    That's what I was thinking.

We land Storm and Lache this year, then add Hilliard, and Hill next year = [IMG]

Not necessarily, but it doesn't help our chances. And if they're both better than Storm then that has to be taken into consideration.

Don't forget about Worle, he's not strictly a FB & could be a very strong between the tackles runner.

I would rather have Storm than wait til next year on Hill or Hilliard. I think Storm is the real deal and will be a super star. He has more speed and wiggle than Scott who is an all SEC back.

I believe when it's all said and done Storm will be a Tiger.

Exactly. You can't look ahead. LSU already did it once with Michael, lets not do it again. Storm looks like a great back. As of now, we have NO power next year at RB. Ford is a completely unproven commodity and worse yet, if he goes down with a injury, we definitely have no power back. So why wouldn't Storm be accepted? Makes no sense. We need at least two power backs on our roster. You can't look ahead and say, "well he looks better, lets take our chances next year and skip this guy now".

Its about recruiting NOW, with needs NOW. Plenty of room for Hill/Hilliard next year. We lose 3 RBs this year and another next year. I can't see how Storm is passable and only LS the only back in this class.

"Lets skip CM because we feel good about LS! Lets skip Storm now since we feel good about LS and Hill/Hilliard look better! Damn! We lost out on LS/Storm, now we really need a power back! Damnit! We lost out on Hill/Hillard, now we're really screwed!"

See where I'm going with this? You can't recruit for the future, you have to fill needs as they come, even if you feel good about a guy in the next class. Need I remind everyone what happened because of the RP ordeal?
