I agree, I also agree with an earlier post that we would be better served picking up another quality OL or DL.
If we are faced with choosing between say a 3 or 4 star OL/DL and LS on NSD, which way do we go? Is it possible he could be on the outside looking in and "forced" to pick Oregon? Just considering that he may have held out too long for Auburn's liking and then misses out with us... I realize this is kind of out of the norm, a 5 star being left out of his team choice but is it possible?
Ciron Black was a 3*. Our Rbs did not fall down on us this year. It was our DLine and Oline. Had either one of those been better, and we win 2 more games. Had both been better.....well.... It's weird thinking we don't have room for him but having loaded up on rb tells me we don't. Perhaps Lache really does want to come here, and waited or maybe he hasn't decided, but it would appear that Miles chose not to get burned waiting on the whims of an 18 year old holding out. Factor in the departure of coaches at USC, etc., and hasn't that thrown it all up in the air? I would have loved to see him in P&G, but at this point I would be shocked.
We may still be in it but looking at the class overall we dont need another RB. We have 7 ATH/RB types committed but only 2 true OL. I'm sure some of our DL commits are being looked at for the OL but we need O-lineman in this class far more than we need another RB. You can never recruit enough O-lineman and if we end the recruiting season with only 2 true OL in this class that will be a disappointment. Late commits are becoming rare. Schools are not waiting like they once did and taking commits from the sure thing over a kid like Lache who wanted to wait.
look at the current roster, we have offensive lineman we just need to coach them up (cliche'). Also, 2011 will be a big year for offensive line, we already have 2 committed with possibly 3 or 4 more that will be heavily targeted.
Are we really gonna turn away five star running backs in back to back years? I doubt it. If he commits, we will take him.
That may be true but I think you recruit the OL EVERY year or you run a risk in the future of being extremely thin in experience or numbers. Normal attrition takes enough of them and you never know about dismissals. It may work out but 3-4 good O-Lineman should be a priority in every class because they account for 25% of our starting lineup.
With Hunter decommitting, if he signs have him sign as a WR/RB/Punt and Kick return guy. If LSU signs him as a WR and return specialist then I am all for that. Sign him and Reed and one other.
