Fishhead Man, what a new year, you and I agree on something. That is a good thing. As you can tell I am pretty much with you on this one. I will say this. - In the right system, on the right team and in the right conference he has the ability to look superman like. - In the wrong system, or on the wrong team and in the wrong conference he could be very ineffective. If he is looking at SEC conference to me his best fits would be. - Ole Miss - Auburn - Florida Ware>Lache Hillard>Lache For what LSU needs. I could hear Crowton now, look Lache if you come here we will design these special package plays for you. Every LSU fan just put their head in their hands and thinks, "not this crap again".
You guys are crazy, or just simply over thinking this. Dude is a different type of back than SWare. That's a good thing. LSU's goal is to stockpile talent, and in the area of RBs, to have versatility. If your point is that we will be okay w/o Lache, I agree, but that would be true of just about any recruit. He is a talented RB and he will make our team better. Therefore, we should continue to pursue him and save a spot for him. It doesn't mean we won't also be pursuing other top talent in areas of need, esp. those now reconsidering commitments to UT/USC, etc.
I really disagree here. I think this thinking is what has hurt (relatively speaking, of course) LSU football immensely. We have gone after "talent" and disregarded maturity, leadership, character, intelligence and all the intangibles that you have to have to get to the top. We do not need star players coming in late or taking a down off. The best need to be the best, 24x7. If we can't find/recruit them, we are not going to be champions. Think about it, the most common theme around here is "with the talent we have, but..." This is the EXACT reason those remarks keep surfacing. I am certain we would be more successful if we went after good, solid, football smart, team players and left the drama queens alone. hwr
LSU is done at RB. Good luck to Lache wherever he ends up - hopefully he goes somewhere that will showcase his talent & he succeeds.
He's not going to Auburn. They don't have enough room. They can only sign one more player b/c they have 27 signed right now. That player is going to be Lattimore. Seastrunk is coming to LSU, if/when we get him we don't really need Gore anymore. But i'm sure we will keep him for slot WR or move Blue to linebacker. The only other school that has a chance to sign Seastrunk is Oregon, but its not going to happen. They have a freshmen running back that tore it up this past year and is not around any family what so ever. LSU he has a finace, family, and a chance for immediate playing time if he works hard. Its a bit of a no brainer where he's going.
If he has already made his decision, he may want to jump on the train before it leaves the station. RB is becoming less and less of a need and the class is almost full. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see his offer pulled soon.
I think that's probably why he moved his date up to Jan. 27th instead of waiting for National Signing Day like he originally was planning to do.
By this logic, character is inversely correlated to talent. See Russell Shepard. Lache has great ability. For a hyped recruit, he has handled the process well. So the kid jokes around and has a lot of swagger, maybe that is what LSU needs more of. Not every player needs to be the serious chief in the locker room to have a positive impact on the team.
