You don't think he has other things on his mind.. like.. where he's going to spend the next 3-4 years of his life? Cut the guy some slack.. he's the best homerun threat this recruiting class. We no longer need Lache. We do want him. He's an absolute take if he wants to commit to us. :crystal:
A better fit for Ole Miss to me or even Auburn. Hey I am all for it if it doesn't interfere with the rest of the RBs. I don't know how you share the ball between him and Shepard and the rest but that is just me. To me if you take Lache than Shepard should think about transferring. I am just being honest here, there are only so many plays... the situational plays basically need to go if you ask me. I also think they need to find something for Shepard that is stable also. It was fine for the first year but he needs to know where his place is. We already have Shepard, what we need is true RBs. Imho If Hillard jumps ship I think there might be a few anger Tiger fans on my side on this. I don't know.
the offense is called the wildcat and would be unstoppable if Shepard and Seastrunk were both in the play at the same time. You have Shepard at QB in the backfield with Murphy back there with him and Seastrunk lined up in the slot. Put Seastrunk in motion when Shepard hikes the ball. YOu can hand off to Seastrunk, who goes one way, Murphy who goes opposite direction, or Shepard who cuts up the middle. DOn't tell me that this offense doesn't work or that we won't run it with Billy Gonzales here. The less time we have to rely on our offensive line to block the better. Seastrunk and Shepard would be untouchable and both get 12-15 carries a game. That kind of offense if very similiar to the offense that Seastrunk ran in high school except its in the wildcat formation. We NEED Seastrunk to keep the safeties honest against us. As much as I love Ware and am honored we have him, Kenny is the exact same back as him. WE will never get another chance at a Lache Seastrunk agility, speed, and size for a long time. And no Shepard is not as big as Seastrunk is.
Kind of like Holliday and Shepard last year. Situational play calling with specific players is not going to work. For every great run you will get 3 loss of yardage. After each 30 yard run you will have a punt. They don't even do that at Ole Miss. They put guys in and they run the plays, and they run the offense it doesn't matter who is in there. LSU needs to get back to LSU football, package football better be done at LSU or Miles better start looking for a new job. imho And yes they will be very stoppable if you are running the offense like you said. There are great athletes on the other side of the ball as well, as LSU is finding out.
You do realize that Seastrunk's career average in high school is 10 yards per carry. That obviously means he gets a heck of alot more big carries than negative carries. We are never going to win the SEC running HB dives the whole game. Not even Bama this year relied ont that. They let McElroy start in shotgun formation ont the first series against Florida and Texas. They also ran that 'gimmick Wildcat" offense alot this year and is the only reason they beat Tennessee. It keeps the defense honest to change it up. LSU has no identity right now on offense. We could become a dominant scary rushing offense by bringing in as many different kind of running backs as we can. If a running back in the future is scared to commit b/c of the competition, that tells me that he sees some talent that he doesn't think he will be able to beat out. We are the favorites for Seastrunk right now so you might as well get used to the idea of him being at LSU unless something crazy happens, which for whatever reason in college recruiting always seems to happen.
They all get 7-10 yards in HS. The reason why LSU is basically last in the SEC and near last in the nation is under the false assumption that you just out talent the opponent. If you want to continue to see bad offense, keep doing these package sets and start flipping the ball to people. Good luck with all that. I really wish you were right and you just recruit a few guys and flip the ball to them and everything is ok but that is not going to work in the SEC. I respectfully just disagree. I have no say so in it, I don't have to get use to it. All I have said is my opinion on the matter, if you disagree with that, I don't have a problem with that.
It's not just that game alone. LSU has more holes to fill than RB. With coaching issues at UF, UT and SC there's an opportunity to grab someone at a position of real need that we weren't necessarily in the running for a couple weeks ago. I'd hate to give a scholarship to a guy like Lache who looks to be a limited-use player versus someone like Ego Ferguson, Xavier Grimble, Markeith Ambles, Kadron Boone, Jacques Smith or Justin Parker who arguably would help the team a lot more. If LSU had never signed Trindon Holiday, would the offense or special teams have been less productive? Doubtful...
Very good discussion here. I see SIU's point that if we lose Seastrunk, no big deal if we already have Shepard. I think that if we get Seastrunk, he'll be more of a running back than Shepard. I think LSU will work very hard to build an offensive scheme around Shepard. I almost hate to use the term because it's meaning can be anything, but Shep should be used like Florida used Percy Harvin. I guess Harvin could do almost anything...in college anyway. As for Seastrunk, I really do hope he signs with us. We really could use him at running back. Maybe he's not an every down back, but I think that if these youngsters really want to be in the NFL, they really wouldn't want to play every down and get worn out or injured.
Steve don't get me wrong. I think Lache could look like a superstar in the right system. I just don't know if that is what we need especially if it means losing some of the others, I don't know. I am sure if he starts having 1k years I will be eating a ton of crow. In the right system he could look very good.
