Re: RB Jakhari Gore COMMITS TO LSU!!!! Exactly. When I think vision on a football field for a running back, I think of the guys that see the defensive players like moving chess pieces and then correctly anticipating which way they will commit to moving, then counter moving. Then fakin' 'em outta their jockstraps. This guy looks electrifying in broken field situations. I like this pickup.
Re: RB Jakhari Gore COMMITS TO LSU!!!! I like the pick-up. Obviously, Seastrunk was the more high profile of the 2, but either one would've filled Holliday's role well. The difference is that Gore seems to appreciate the role, while I think Seastrunk would've always wanted/expected more carries. Holliday was a tremendous asset to our special teams, and a nice to have on offense. I don't think Gore will be quite as good as Holiday on special teams (better in the open field, but not as fast to hit the seems), but will be better on offense because he doesn't go down easy. I think he'll have a very good career here, and if Shepard doesn't take a lot of snaps at RB next year, then I think Gore will get his share.
Re: RB Jakhari Gore COMMITS TO LSU!!!! I think Gore could be better than Trindon on special teams. While Trindon is great at hitting the seams with incredible speed he does not have the shiftiness to allude the defenders. Gore's best quality is his vision and the ability to cut on a dime which makes for a great return man. Only seen one or 2 plays on film where he caught punts and kickoffs but I assume he has the ball skills to not be a liability back there.
The kid has good vision, but is too small to break tackles. I wish he was a little faster. Sheppard has more pure speed to fill the Holiday role if we wanted him to. We will miss Holiday on kickoffs, but not that much on punts. He couldn't be trusted to catch the ball and not muff or fumble it. That is why we put Jones in when we wanted sure hands. Does anyone know if Gore is currently running back punts or kickoffs, because not everyone is cut out for it? I am not overly excited about Gore because of his size and lack of elite speed, but am hopeful we can find a way to use him in space and he pans out. I feel better about him than I did about Calhoun though, because Calhoun's highlights just showed him as a straight-line one cut runner. One of the biggest problems I see with using these little guys is the fact that they are not in the game much and the opposing team is alerted when they do come in to watch for them running around the end. If Sheppard, for example, were capable of playing the entire game, the defense would be forced to play a more conventional defense and thus make him more capable of breaking some huge runs.
Vision and agility > Speed IMO. If he can pack on some weight on his frame.. I expect him to be a solid 3rd down back fairly early in his career. If he redshirts he's going to compliment Hill/Hilliard very well.
